It was my first time in San Francisco and I needed a place that was accessible to many sites in the city. I stayed here for 5 days and it was a good break away from New York City. The neighborhood just right outside the apartment is kind of small but hip and laid back. Just about the right amount of little boutiques, cafes, restaurants and bars to explore in a few short days. I made it a point to eat at a different spot each time however, if I ever come back I would eat at Zuni Cafe, Cafe La Vie & LunchPad again. And probably my favorite little shop is Lavish. There's a Walgreens down the block, it's not open 24 hours but still very convenient. And there's also some kind of jazz music hall on the other end of the block, had I known about it I probably would have bought tickets to catch something live on the weekend. I spent most of my time around the city on foot. It's not a terribly big city so you can get by.
The room is spacious as pictured and it was really more than enough space for just me. I like how the space is laid out, it feels homey. Bed is comfy and you get a clean towel. There's a closet that's huge. And there's a desk already set up and perfect for my laptop. The room gets plenty of sun which was nice waking up to my yoga sessions. There's a bookcase full of books which is interesting to me. I specialize in product innovation and there's a handful of books that I would actually read. I personally made 2 reading lists for myself, one for ideation & innovation and the other for design & inspiration. The walls are thin, you can hear your neighbors, street level noises and there's a school right outside your window. But the neighborhood is pretty quiet during sleeping hours so you just have to adjust your rhythm to the locals. My stay was in November and it's a bit chilly in the mornings and cold at night. You don't even have to ask there's already an extra fleecy blanket in the closet for you if the comforter is not enough.
Host is really nice and very knowledgable, he keeps to himself mostly but is available for questions. He has spent a significant amount of time where I'm from so his insights about the differences in local culture is very interesting. I feel like I barely used the shared space, I always ate out. I did bring some food in with me but used my own space mostly. It's was pretty straightforward, you get the keys and do your thing. Check out is flexible and just lock up when you leave. All in all, it was time well spent away from home. The only thing I didn't look forward to was going back to work.
With Pierre it was very easy to communicate and very responsive. At the arrival he was available to answer all my questions and give some advice about the neighborhood. During my stay You didn't noticed Pierre was around, but if you had questions he responded quick. The room was really good and everything you needed was there. The shared kitchen and bathroom was nice. From the apartment it was easy to move around SF with public transport and with a bike (which can be rented just around the corner, 5 minutes walk). Great place...
The host canceled this reservation 37 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Pierre was discreet and calm but ready to help us any time. The room was really spacious and the neighborhood was pleasant (school and music centers around). Thank you again Pierre !
Neighborhood is great, especially if you want to go to the Opera/Ballet or the Jazz Center for awesome performances. Plenty of restaurants in the area and a safe place to walk around in the evening. Space is good, just make sure to connect with the host on the arrival time a few times prior to arrival.
it was fine
Location is really good!! You can walk to Van Ness Ave. and Market St. in 5 mins where a lots of mini buses pass through. There are some nice restaurants near the house like 3 mins walk and open till midnight so it's impossible for you to get hungry.
Pierre is really nice and friendly, the room is clean and cozy, enough space for suitcases.
It's a wonderful travel experience, thank you Pierre!!
Pierre was cool and made sure I had everything I needed. The location was also great and in close proximity to some key SF areas. Definitely a positive experience.
The picture of the room is accurate and the stay in the room was nice. However, the rest of the apartment isn't as nice as the room is, so that should be kept in mind.
I arrived around midnight with my brother from Canada. I had already contacted Pierre ahead of time and he was expecting us around that time. Although he knew that, he was asleep when we got to the apartment and we couldn't get in for 15 or so minutes. We probably wouldn't have gotten in that night if my brother didn't have an internationally working phone. Pierre, please take care to be awake to greet your guests next time.
Otherwise, good price for a decent stay for SF!
Pierre and I did not have a chance to meet while he was in Pittsburgh. Nonetheless, my experience as his host was very positive. He was friendly, easy to communicate with, and left the guest room in perfect shape. He would be welcome back anytime, and I suggest other people host him as well.
Pierre was a great guest! Neat, considerate, easy-going. I highly recommend Pierre to other guests.
