Jay has lived in Portland for decades and represents the city as Afar Magazine's local expert and editor of the online travel guide to the city. Jay's domestic & international travel writing has a healthy online following. He is an award winning writer/producer with credits in a variety of subject areas.
An accomplished climber, runner, cyclist, kayaker and telemark skier, he spends a fair amount of time in rain gear. He has traveled extensively around the NW including the summits of Mt Rainier, Hood, Shasta and the Three Sisters. His international rambling has taken him to SE Asia, Republic of Georgia, Egypt, Slovenia, Costa Rica, and the usual haunts around western Europe. The most recent jaunt to India and Bhutan is the basis for several upcoming travel guides and articles.
A big Duck fan, Jay has collected a Bachelor's degree in broadcasting and journalism and a Master’s degree in instructional design from the University of Oregon in Eugene.
