Kjeld is an incredible host! He was attentive from the beginning, and when I had a mini crisis he'd already anticipated it and had an easy solution - what a dream! The place is just like the listing, great cool tucked away spots nearby and just enough off the beaten trail but still convenient.
Kjeld's loft is simply beautiful.
The space is exactly how the pictures potray it; one-of-a-kind.
The bathroom had fresh linen and the spaces were squeaky clean as promised :) The loft bed can be a little bit of an adventure but my husband and me managed fine and we are both a 5'9 and taller.
Kjeld is an extremely thoughtful host. We arrived to a bottle of delicious wine and a box of dark chocolate! He was very responsive to all my emails and was prompt at sending detailed instructions to finding the space and things to do in SF. We enjoyed several cups of coffee at SightGlass at his recommendation. Mission District is a very vibrant neighborhood; you're bound to find a surprise in every street. Look out for the wall murals, some of them are pretty amazing. We also took advantage of the Uber credit Kjeld provided.
The space is a little small, but that's the charm.
All in all, marvelous trip to San Francisco, and the beautiful loft made coming back at the end of the day a joyful event.
Kjeld was one of the most welcoming hosts I have had with Airbnb. After making my reservation, I asked a few questions about the neighborhood, such as where to find coffee shops and restaurants, and Kjeld immediately provided me with a list of places near to his sunny apartment. His neighborhood in San Francisco is a great place to walk around, and within a few blocks there are all types of interesting places, such as bookstores and galleries, to visit. We went out a Sunday and the streets were crowded. His quiet street is a family friendly local place in the Mission, and his immediate neighbors were very welcoming to us. Also Kjeld let us use his parking space while we were there, a major plus. His apartment has all the basic amenities, such as plenty of towels and kitchen items, all cleverly fit in his space.
As we were visiting a number of areas in and around San Francisco we found the Kjeld's location quite central. Kjeld also recommended a visit to the nearby park at the top of Bernal Heights, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Kjeld was readily available to answer any questions that came up by text or email, which was also very helpful.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I waited until the last minute to plan a weekend getaway for me and my lady for Valentine's Day. The day before actually. I wanted to spend the weekend in SF, and it being a holiday weekend, made it quite difficult. Then I spotted Kjeld's place. Right off the bat, the pictures drew me in. The place has lots of character. Lifted bed was comfortable, and what I loved the most was all the natural lighting. Located a few blocks from mission street, you're not too far from all the hype. It was my first time in SF, and I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in. Kjeld knows the neighborhood very well, and for people who aren't, he will point you in the right direction for things to do.
Kjeld's place is exactly as you see in the photos. Very clean with high ceilings. It is essentially a studio so not very spacious, but then you don't come to San Fran to sit in your flat all day, right? :)
Good | Extremely good communication and guidelines from Kjeld, comfy bed, clean bathroom, good wifi, close to nice restos/cafes. The neighborhood is still undergoing gentrification so it's still a bit edgy, but I'm used to that from my home town so didn't bother me.
Bad | The bed is in an alcove with very short ceiling height at the top of the stairs. You have to hunch to get into bed. This was really the only part that I was not so fond of. There is no TV, but then I don't watch TV so I didn't care, but you might.
Had a great stay! Kjeld made us feel very welcome :) I really appreciated his clear instructions, how clean the space was, and his recommendations on nearby cafes and restaurants!
Kjeld is a wonderful host! His place is awesome, close to everything I needed in the mission!
Booking was seemless and getting into the apartment was easy.
Thank you for all of your neighborhood suggestions, it was much appreciated! I'd see stay again.
Everyone has said that Kjeld is a great host and we totally agree. We had one little issue which he told us about on arrival, and it was fixed immediately. He followed up with us to be sure all was perfect, which it was. The neighborhood is more upscale and quiet than we thought it would be-- there are victorian homes around and it located away from the busy streets. Very pleasant area. Entry is easy, only up 2/3 flight of wide well lit outside stairs and the apartment is in the front of the building. Floor to ceiling windows face east, lots of sunlight in the morning. Exceptionally clean all around, and the bathroom was spotless as a 5 star hotel. Big screen Mac monitor available. Temperature control was fine, enough heat and you can open windows if too warm. The loft has only about 4 1/2 feet of headroom, so you cannot stand up when getting into and out of the bed. But the mattress was obviously very high end, totally comfortable-- medium firmness but soft enough surface for both my wife and I (I like soft she likes firm). The duvet was warm and covered the whole bed very well. The BART was a short walk, it only took 10 minutes. Lots of busses, take one up to Bernal Heights, its a great pocket of restaurants. Excellent restaurants such as Flour + Water within 10 minutes walk, away from the busy streets. All in all, a super clean and cheery place with a world class host, in a better than advertised neighborhood. A great alternative to Hayes Valley and Pacific Heights-- give it a try you will enjoy this great apartment.
Had a great stay at Kjeld's loft. He gave a very quick initial response so it became no problem that we booked with very short notice. Although we didn't meet Kjeld, he offered many great suggestions of things to do in the area. The loft was cozy (very small) and was perfect for us for the 3 days we were there. Location was excellent. Many restaurants and cafes in the area.
Kjeld was a wonderful guest - very respectful of our home, friendly and easy going. We would recommend him to anyone as a guest.
Kjeld was a model guest. He was quiet and extremely neat - the apartment was spotless when he left! We would love to have him stay with us again.
What a great guest. So kind and full om inspiration. Unfortunately Kjeld did not have time to enjoy Stockholm so much, but if he ever decides to come back he is more than welcome to stay in my apartment.
Kjeld and his coallegues were great guests. They took good care of the apartment very well. Very kind and easy to communicate with. Recommendable as guests and will be welcome anytime.
Kjeld was a pleasure. Sweet, courteous, clean, communicative and helpful. He even offered to do some maintenance stuff--I can't say enough about how delightful he is
It was a pleasure to host Kjeld. He was very accommodating as I unexpectedly had to leave earlier than usual that week. Quiet, no trouble at all, and very, very nice..
Such a short stay but enough to know that Kjeld is a lovely person. It was nice to host him.
Kjeld was the perfect guest. I pleasure to host.
Kjeld was an awesome guest. Clean, very communicative, extremely considerate and independent. I would welcome him back any time!
Oh my gosh, Kjeld and Nga are so sweet! They are incredibly polite, fun, and just so cute together. If you have the opportunity to share your home with them you will be blessed.
