The house worked out well for our extended family group of 10. It was roomy and comfortable. The locale was typical rural Vermont -- on a quiet dirt road at the top of a hill. Close to town, though, for shopping and restaurants.
David was a helpful host, checking in with us before and during our arrival to make sure all was okay. We would not hesitate to stay again upon a return to the area.
I rented this house because my older daughter was graduating from Dartmouth and I saw a good review of the place. The house was about 20 mins away from the college.
David was very welcoming and friendly over the phone and emails. He was going to check the house to make sure everything was fine and to provide some breakfast food in the morning of our check-in day. However, he had a work conflict that prevented him from coming up but he emailed me and left instructions. He also comp me $40 of a gift certificate for breakfast food at Gillingham's General Store in Woodstock. The house was beautiful, clean, and cozy. Linens were cleaned. There was a fire pit and our younger daughter made "stockbrot" (bread on a stick) over the fire. We also were able to enjoy the wood stove during one rainy, cold day. There were books, games, videos/dvd, a TV, and wi-fi for us to use. The cell reception was very spotty but the house had a land-line which my older daughter called us at.
We all had a lovely time staying at the house. It was close to other beautiful towns for sightseeing.
The house was exactly what we needed and David was very flexible about letting us add a couple more days to our stay.
The place has plenty of beds and a lot of room to spread out in the great room and a great fireplace and a great deck. Close enough to town and far enough away at the same time. Very nice.
We hope we can stay here again next year.
David was a great host! He was helpful with information about the home and the area's many attractions. We had a great stay and love this area. The home is exactly as it appears online - no complaints. We were comfortable in this roomy home which is secluded but minutes from the friendly towns of Woodstock and Hartland. We rented bikes and rode the backroads leaving from the home over to Eshqua bog - a nature conservancy area which we really enjoyed. The fall colors were just coming in so the scenery was stunning. Great getaway!
We had a great stay in Hartland. David was very helpful and accomodatting. The house is spacious, well-equipped, not fancy...just what we wanted. The location is gorgeous -- lots of beautiful farmland surrounding it -- and well-situated halfway between Woodstock and Hartland. Highly recommended.
House was very nice. It was very roomy and comfortable. No complaints from any of the 3 families that stayed there. Reasonably priced.
Great house! Our family stayed there while we attended a graduation at Dartmouth. Location is convenient and the surrounding area is beautiful. David was a great host and responded promptly to all communication. Would stay there again!
Very comfortable beautiful home. In the woods on a hill with a view of the mountains. Beautiful road to walk on...warm and cozy in the house.
David was a great communicator and made us feel at home.
We had plenty of room, for 5 with two bedrooms that we didn't even use! My brother brought his daughter and it was perfect place for a families.
Beautiful house on a quiet and scenic dirt road. The home was exactly as described and David was a lovely host. He called and emailed prior to our visit to make certain we had all the information we needed. He also provided a document with all the details about the house as well as local attractions and amenities.
