I like to garden, bike and check in with friends. Three years ago I bought a four bedroom house with the idea of having roommates. Both my daughters live out of state (UT and TX) and I was tired of living alone. It has worked out well.

I was a middle school teacher in Stockton, CA til June 2013. I like to take road trips in the summer, usually back to Manitoba, Canada where I am originally from. Also lived in Spokane WA and south of Coeur d'Alene, ID before moving to California. This past summer I did an extended road trip visiting family I haven't seen in years. For the rest of 2013 I am on a mini-sabbatical. Spending most of September in Colorado helping a friend with a contract. Will then head back to California exploring some of NM, AZ and NV. Late October I will head to Guatemala to learn Spanish. Looking forward to meeting up with my daughters somewhere in Mexico for Christmas.

Generally I do a mixture of camping (fair weather), youth hostels and now airbnb.

This spring a small group of us have starting going to Sacramento for ballroom dance lessons. It has been a lot of fun, even if I don't feel very skilled. I also like to go contra dancing which is much easier to follow.

As a guest I think I am pretty low maintenance and easy going in general. My motto/general outlook is Life is Good! Do what you like and like what you do! totally borrowed from the brothers who started the tshirt company.

I love experiencing different cultures and realities (well most anyway :). I have been to 4 continents, worked in three Canadian provinces and three American states. My next adventure is to learn spanish and explore Latin America. Two years ago I attended a quinceanera in Michoacan, Mexico and felt so limited by my lack of spanish that I am highly motivated to change this.
