Miles was a disaster. I asked him to leave. I don't have anything against old or obese people, but this man really couldn't take care of himself. Within a hour of walking into my apartment he trips on his bag and breaks his ankle. I went to go get some ice. My super sat beside him and adjusted his leg so he was in minimal pain. We suggested an ambulance, but he declined.
3am - He wakes my super and asks for an ambulance. He obliges. He comes back the next day asking him to go buy food for him, to get cash for him from the ATM, to assist him with getting around. He was bombarded with texts daily.
Honestly we didn't think of it too much. We we're just trying to help this man, but we started to get a sense that he didn't really care about us, the apartment, or the fellow travelers that stayed there. I understand he had a hard time getting around and taking care of himself, however it was the complete disregard he had for others that really upset us.
He left his feces stained on the toilet seat. He left it there. Another traveler dealt with it. He left urine drenched underwear hanging in the bathroom. He urinated into bottles in his room. He left the door open while he lay there on the bed with his bottom exposed. People had a hard time sleeping due to his breathing problems. We told him the things above weren't going to be tolerated. He assured us wouldn't happen again. So we let him stay.
I had a photo shoot with airbnb planned for his room. I informed him 3 days prior. My super did the same. On the day of he informed me that he wasn't leaving the room and that the shoot would not happen. He told me he would not let my super clear his room for a shoot that would have taken 5 minutes. He yelled at both of us. After all the things we've done for him he couldn't even do us a small favor of clearing his room for 5 minutes.
I hope none of you have to experience what we've gone through.
Miles is friendly and respectful, welcome back anytime!
Very kind, thoughtful person. He was very independent and asked a lot of questions. He has a good energy and is experienced in airbnb'ing, meaning he made himself right at home quickly. The only complaint is that he snores really loudly. But i live in a loft that u can hear everything. :) a recommended guest, very interesting and full of good stories.
