Arlene is a great host and made our stay at Berkeley very enjoyable. The organic breakfast that she served every morning, clean room, fresh roses and even the two cute cats there will always be part of our memory of Berkeley. I definitely recommend Arlene and wish her the best. lol~
Arlene is a thoughtful, gracious host. Her home is very clean, serene, and furnished with wonderful antiques. The room had fresh flowers and a carafe of water awaiting us. There is a small juliette balcony off the bedroom, with an incredible view of the bay. A lovely place to stay in Berkeley.
I had a very enjoyable stay in Arlene's beautiful home. The decor was lovely and tranquil, with a creamy white and light wood palette, just as shown in the pictures. The room rental actually included 2 rooms - a bedroom and separate sitting room on the lower level and both had views of the bay. It was very private and quiet, and everything from the sheets to the towels to the soaps were spa quality.
Arlene picked me up from the BART station when I arrived in the evening, and she prepared me a delicious breakfast the next morning. I greatly enjoyed the short (downhill) walk through her beautiful neighborhood to get to my meeting on the UC Berkeley campus.
We had a very nice 4 night stay with Arlene in North Berkeley! Her duplex house is small and beautiful (two rooms and bathroom at entry level + open living room/kitchen area upstairs) and very tastefully decorated with antiques. Our room was clean, airy and bright with plenty of duvets and blankets. You have a stunning view through the big glass doors - greenery and glimpses of the Bay from up on the hill. Arlene is a very kind and considerate host, who gave us several rides. The location is 15 minutes’ walk to the university and a host of restaurants - and 20 minutes' walk to the Gourmet Ghetto (with Chez Panisse + other restaurants) and a very nice supermarket. Tip-you need to book Chez Panisse several weeks in advance. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, with residential upscale homes. As mentioned in another review, Arlene is a good conversationalist. Her hot organic breakfasts are gourmet. Arlene was very flexible and accommodated us with regard to breakfast time depending on our schedule. It was an enjoyable experience and we would stay here again. Thank you, Arlene.
Arlene's house is really beautiful, and feels like a little nature retreat in the city. She made a delicious breakfast for me every morning and was wonderful to talk with. I was a last minute stay, and she was even kind enough to pick me up at the BART station very late at night. I would definitely recommend!
My boyfriend and I had a very nice stay at Arlene's beautiful home over the weekend. It was very comfortable and relaxing. The bathroom is especially nice. The study room comes with the rental as well. There is also a very friendly cat so it's great if you are a cat lover.
As this is the first time my boyfriend and I have tried Airbnb, I must say that we are extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to stay with Arlene instead of going the conventional route (hotels, motels, etc.). Her home is so peaceful and tranquil, and set in such a beautiful, natural surrounding. As mentioned by other reviewers, Arlene's breakfast is the best we've had in such a long time. She is an exceptional hostess and conversationalist! We have the highest regards for her and her home and, given the chance, we would definitely stay with her again in the future.
Arlene was a great host. Room was comfortable and perfect location, walking distance to the concert we atended at the Greek Theatre . Arlene was very accommodating and went beyond most B&Bs with her breakfast. She even offered to whip up something when we returned in the late evening after the concert. I recommend Arlene's place.
Arlene has a great house with a beautiful view. I loved the breakfast and the fresh coffee in the morning.
What a great place! This was perfect for us as we were just taking a day to visit the Berkeley area. It was located near the campus so we could easily explore all of the popular areas. The place itself was very nice, decorated in a relaxing rustic style that we wished we had at home haha. Arlene was a generous host and a great cook. We very much enjoyed our stay.
