The host canceled my reservation 52 days before arrival.
Fantastic, HUGE place, with magnificent view across the mountains. Can walk at night on the road outside and see incredible amounts of stars. Also, access to really excellent tennis facilities! Would stay again, anytime.
I booked this place somewhat last minute, and Linda was very communicative and available. Check-in was perfect and the property was BEAUTIFUL. The pictures and price didn't even do it justice. We had an amazing time and we loved the house so much that we basically treated it better than our own.
Linda was also very helpful when I called to ask for some ideas on things to do around the area.
All around a lovely experience and I would definitely come back.
Linda was a great host. She and her husband met us when we pulled up to the beautiful house. The pictures definitely don't do this place justice. It's a brand new house, about 1 year old. The garage first off is huge. The first big room after going up stairs is almost a seperate suite with 2 beds, TV, sofa, outdoor huge balcony, and own bathroom. In fact this room we didn't even use, the house was so big. It would be a perfect room if you were sharing this house with another family. Upstairs there was another small landing and 2 rooms with 2 more queen beds, a huge laundry room with nice front loading duet washer/dryers and plenty of towels for us to use.
The master bedroom was very large, with it's own seperate plasma, walk in closet and large bathroom, lots of blankets.
Going up to the last floor, the living room, kitchen, dining room was just 1 large great room. You could have 20 people up there and still feel spacious. There was 2 balcony's on the top floor, 1 with a barbecue which I used, the other with birdhouses you can watch feed from. I think hanging on the wall was a 60" plasma with DirecTV.
The kitchen was fully stocked with every spice imaginable, including tons of cutlery, dishes, etc. The large kitchen island made it a great entertaining spot. Amazingly the house was really well insulated, since the heater wasn't on, and it was 35 degrees at night, the house stayed comfortable the 2 nights we were there.
BTW, the views are spectacular.
Ignore the GPS as it'll say it takes 20 minutes to get from the bottom of donner hill pass up to the house. It took us 8-9 minutes.
Lastly, the best part of this property is the Tahoe Donner Passes that allow you access to 1. beach club down by the lake, 2. a pool with a waterslide 3. a huge fitness facility with 3 pools, jacuzzi, and gym. We went to all 3 locations which are all great for kids as well as there are 1' kid pools and the beach is shallow with sand. If you golf apparently you get 1/2 off green fees, and there's also an equestrian center available to ride horses.
Great family rental, or group rental with a bunch of friends. I'm definitely coming back.
The photos and description of this home no where near give it the justice it deserves. This home is exquisite. It is decorated to accent the beauty of the log cabin--This home is a REAL log cabin. This three story house was perfect for multiple families and even had a great Americana-themed room that slept all of the kids. The couches are comfortable, the beds are plush and the carpet was a warm touch! We cooked many meals in the kitchen with the massive island and enjoyed the huge oven and cooktop, the lighting in the kitchen is awesome! The view from the many balconies is beautiful, you can even see the lake! They allowed our pups and the large and cool garage was a perfect secure place to leave them while we went to the lake. Our rental included use of the Tahoe Donner beach club which was great! We paid $8 bucks each to have access to a sandy beach with amazing picnic facilities and snack shack--only 15 minutes from the house! The pool and water slides were great for the kids, too. Linda and her husband were more than gracious (we LOVED the details like the recycled wood-framed Plasma TVs). We will definitely stay here again!
