Nicole's place was the perfect place for our stay in Kauai. It was exceptionally clean and spacious with a beautiful, private backyard and lanai. Nicole provided everything we would need from towels and linens to beach and snorkel gear to a fully equipped kitchen. We originally wanted to stay on the North Shore, but Kapaa ended up being perfect because it's so centrally located. We were easily able to travel to all parts of the Island, and Coconut Beach is only a few minutes from her house! We loved every minute of our stay and would gladly stay at Nicole's again. I highly recommend her!
The apartment overall was very clean. We arrived about 10 min early before the 3pm checkin and they were still cleaning. Not a big deal. The space is the very large compared to what is viewable in the photos. The kitchen is well-equipped. Fridge is huge and clean. The bathroom, not pictured, only has a stand up shower. Hot water and pressure is good. Often had to manually turn on solar powered water heater which is pretty cool. A few odd smells in the walk-in closet in the bedroom. I think there is a strange scent coming from the large bamboo bed frame. Again, not a big deal. Television is teeny and adorable, didn't use it often. Internet is fast but off and on. Couch is not comfortable for long periods. On the walkway outside there were some loose stray wires that would catch on clothing as I walked by.
The wicker-like shades in the bedroom weren't great for privacy. At night you can look right into the room from the street through the fence. In voiced my concern and Nicole suggested that I put up a sheet to cover up... So there's that. As others have commented, the washer/dryer are right outside of the bedroom so there is typically a rumbling or someone just outside by the window. Oftentimes the kids, adorable and well behaved, run into the yard often. They are taught not to. The owners have installed more fencing for more privacy.
The apartment was in a safe neighborhood, though quite a ways away from the town. Make sure to have a car.
The people who run the place are ultra nice and accommodating when there were issues.
We had a great time at Nic's place. She was a lovely, helpful, caring host and I highly recommend staying at her place. Especially if you are travelling with little kids, I think this is a great option. Nic has kids herself and loads of toys to play with. We'd always come back.
Located near Kapaa, Nic's apartment is centrally located and allowed us to easily discover Kauai. The apartment is functional and clean. We loved sitting out in the lanai after dinner to finish our bottle of wine. Nic's was helpful and available when we needed it. She is a cheerful and welcoming person. The one thing we would suggest is to include all the fees (cleaning and Hawaii taxes) in the rate so that you could pay only once.
Nichole is a very friendly host, she made me feel most welcome. The apartment is spotless and looks freshly renovated. I found the place to be more spacious than it appeared in the photos. The back porch is quite private and a nice place to enjoy breakfast or relax at the end of the day. I found the location to be extremely convenient, with Safeway and the beach being a quick drive down the road. It is located in a residential area, so there is very much a residential feel to your setting. The neighborhood stirs quite early in the morning on the week days, so I recommend this place for early risers, which most of us are due to the time change. Do rent a compact or car of similar width to take advantage of the private parking spot. This is a great central location for exploring the north and the south, and a pretty short drive from the airport.
Nic was a good host and the space worked out well for a family of three.
The apartment is the hills above Kapaa, so a rental car is extremely useful for dining out and shopping.
The best family beaches are north and south of Kapaa, so budget extra time for the slow traffic.
You will hear roosters in the early morning, and throughout the day, but there are other birds as well. It's all part of the charm.
Do yourself a favor and check out the weekly farmer's market, and Hoku Foods. Best coffee is found at Java Kai, and Snorkle Bob is your local gear outlet.
APartment was very clean a big enough. We stayed one week and explored the whole island. The location is good as both ends are reachable by car in less than 1,5h.
As we went out everyday the apartment was great. If you spend a lot of time at home I would do something closer to the beach. The lanai is small but ok.
Nic is very nice and helped whereever possible.
Located in a large, somewhat crowded, blue-collar subdivision, the apartment is connected to a house where the owners and their three boys reside. The apartment is immaculate, recently painted and updated, if not a little spartan right now. The bed was comfortable and the room has a walk-in closet. The kitchen has plenty of cupboard and counter space. The bathroom was small, but adequate. The owner was attentive to a couple of minor issues we had, one being the Dish Network which we admittedly are unfamiliar with. She is planning to revert back to cable soon, which apparently is less finicky. Overall it is a nice place to stay at a reasonable price. It is a great place for families. But if you are looking for a quiet location with swaying palm trees, it may not be your first choice.
Nic is delightful! The apartment is indeed very clean, spacious and it was just great to have such a beautiful kitchen during our stay. The location is also very good for exploring the island. This is a family home (just through the main wall) and they have 3 rambunctious youngsters , and you will hear the sounds of children when they are home. The back yard is very pretty, but not so private, with close neighbors and the washing machine just outside the bedroom window. The car rental was cancelled a few days before we arrived, so we had to really scramble for a car, and only found a fairly run down local car for our time on the island. All things considered we can recommend this rental as a very good value.
The reservation was canceled 13 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Response from Nic:
I had to cancel because I had a major water damage in
the apartment and it needs to get fixed before I can rent it out again.
It's already in the repair and will be ready for sure on December 1st.
