Great location and room size. Everything was clean and comfortable. We felt very welcome there and had a great few days getting to know portland and katherine.
It was a really great experience, I wish we could have stayed longer.
Kathryn was a great host she gave us great recommendations in Portland and made our trip even more enjoyable ! The rooms and bathroom were clean and comfy, as we were expecting them. The area was lovely, loads of things to enjoy !
I would definitely come back if I visit Portland again !
Thanks a lot Kathryn !
A very convenient, comfortable and pleasant place to stay while exploring Portland. Renovated, older character house in a funky neighbourhood of Alberta arts. Super clean. Great bed! Kathryn was gracious and accommodating. I would definitely return.
Kathryn was a wonderful host and we enjoyed staying at her charming Frere house. The other guests (Doug, Carol and Chris) were very friendly and helpful. The neighborhood was located in a quiant, artsy and diverse area and it was only minutes away from downtown. There was ample parking space around the house and we were also able to cook breakfast every morning as there were plenty of cooking wares and utensils in the kitchen. There were also plenty of restaurants (Italian, American, Thai, Vietnamese) to choose from. By the way, if you were a doughnut lover and do not want to wait in line, you can go to Voodoo Doughnuts #2 which is about 3 miles from the house.
Kathryn has a very beautiful house and the upstairs room that we stayed in was very comfortable and clean. The house was a friendly and welcoming vibe the minute we walked in. Kathryn was a great communicator and very understanding to our unpredictable schedule visiting family. We would definitely stay here again!
This place was perfect! It was a great location and Kathryn was very accommodating. Although we were sharing the house it felt very private.
First and foremost, Kathryn was a welcoming and accommodating host, which my mother and I really appreciated, as I was in town to have my tonsils removed. The top floor is a truly beautiful space. Really spacious rooms with a nice, clean bathroom.
When we arrived, Kathryn and the other people renting spaces in her home cleared out space in the fridge and cupboards for us, and greeted us with nice conversation.
Overall, we had a really positive experience with both the space and the other people living in the house. We'd definitely recommend Frere house!
We had a great stay here, walking distance to Alberta Street which we loved. The house is gorgeous and feels more like a shared house as there are other people staying in other rooms which I liked. There is a bus downtown a couple of blocks away which we used a lot, very handy. Lots of on street free parking. Would recommend to anyone.
Kathryn met us at her door even though we arrived very late. She showed us around and as our reservation had been modified (we did not end up with the rooms we had reserved) she gave up her basement apartment and arranged beds for the five of us. As we were not there much, this was not much of a problem and everything was very clean. The house is a beautiful vintage place and we absolutely loved our visit to Portland.
Kathryn was warm, welcoming, and so kind! I was there for two quick nights, but felt absolutely comfortable. The room was large and beautiful, very airy, comfortable bed. The house is in the perfect location for walking to the Alberta Arts district for yummy food, local shopping, wine, and nightlife (or not!).
