Hello! I've lived all over the globe and I'm currently enjoying Montreal. I teach private fiddle classes and play with various bands.

This is an amazing location. Mary-Elizabeth leaves detailed but friendly instructions on how to live in her apartment, and we truly felt like house-guests, not hotel guests. The location can't be beat, with restaurants, metro, movie theater, etc all close by.
Mary-Elizabeth is very nice and pleasant to communicate with. Her apartment is comfortable and very centrally located. You can get to all the interesting places easily.
The drawback in our case was that a couple of other guests had been staying in the apartment before us. She sometimes rents her place to several people in a row when she's out of town for a longer time. It is the responsibility of the guests to keep the place clean. By the time we arrived, especially the toilet wasn't in a very attractive state anymore. Considering all the cleaning that is expected from you, we felt the price was too high. Otherwise it is a nice place.
Mary was very pleasant to comunicate with. The apartment is very well located, but the quality wasn't what I would've expected for the price I paid for it. The living room and bedroom floors were sort of clean, and the bathroom was not only very dirty but needed a serious remodel. Specially the toilet seat (VERY old and the surface from it was coming off), and the shower (old, and REALLY dirty and sticky from my point of view). Mary also left two small and very well used towels on the bed by the time I arrived.
I stayed on August, and the apartment was really hot. It doesn't have AC and a noisy fan won't do the trick. When you walk into the bedroom you can hear the noise from the patio, and no matter how well you close the window. The noise will stay there up to 3 am approximately.
The apartment is located in a two stories building without elevator. I wouldn't recommend it if you go with an elder person or a person with disabilities.
The host sent me a '3-pages manual' with instructions to clean the apartment and leave it in better conditions than I found it. I cleaned the bathroom (including toilet and shower), with the products she told me to use. I also vacuumed the floor with the vacuum cleaner she provided. Left it much better than it was when I arrived. I didn't even cook in the apartment because I was eating out the whole weekeend.
This was my first experience with AirBnB, and it wasn't a pleasant one. I think some of the reviews for this apartment are way overrated and they overlooked some serious things going on.
Finally, I guess my mistake was to not share my first impressions of the apartment with Mary. I will pay more attention next time.
Me and two friends rented Marys space for a little more than three weeks. It was awesome!!
Mary is a considerent host, it's never any confusion in the communication and she does that little extra: she leaves maps and gives you tips and information about anything.
I'm happy that I rented from Mary and I will do it again if I ever come back to Montreal.
Really excellent location--this was my first time to Montreal so I didn't understand any of the neighborhoods until I got there and started to explore a bit, but this place is walkable to the old Montreal section and the Berri-Uqam metro stop is pretty much right around the corner, so from there you can get to the rest of Montreal quite easily since it seems to be one of the larger stations (and also has a bus that runs to the airport).
Apartment was clean and well set up; bathroom is a little old and worn, but certainly no functional issues. I didn't mind the noise in the bedroom from the beer garden that it overlooks. It was loud when the windows were open to get a breeze but there's a nice fan in there so I just closed the windows and turned on the fan when sleeping and it was fine. No cat while we were there.
In case it isn't obvious to others, the couch in the living room doesn't fold down like a futon but we had one person sleep on there just as on a couch and that was fine.
Excellent place to stay because you have everything near. Metro, grocery store, bars, etc. It was my first time in Montreal and it was perfect. About the exterior noise, no big deal. Put the fan on and that's it. Mary-Elizabeth, the hostess, a nice and gentle girl. Will recommend the place to my friends.
Mary Elizabeth was so easy to deal with, very communicative and answered any questions i had. Her spot is the perfect location to all things close in downtown Montreal! Her cat Red was such a pleasure to have as well. Thank you again and i'm sure i'll be back!
Mary-Elizabeth's place was charming and inviting !
overall the experience was nice
My friends and I had a great stay in Marys apartment. It is very cozy and it is as described. Literally, close to everything. Communicating with Mary was also an ease as she responded in a timely fashion. It was a pleasure having Red around as well, such a friendly cat! I didn't notify Mary of the two extra persons but seemed reasonable as I left the money for the other two. Thank you.
Great host. Very friendly cat. Mary Elizabeth was at the apartment right when we arrived and provided great ideas for sights. The apartment is cozy and gets a lot of natural light.
swweet girl, open heart, open minded with a very clean flat..i loved my time in this place and its location, right in the latin quarter, next to all bars and metro :)
