Harry's cottage is charming and very well maintained. We were greeted and made to feel welcome then left to our own devices. I liked that he had a fire extinguisher/ first aid kit/ and a laminated page with all the info we needed. The property is very cool and fun to hang around in a hammock by the creek or next to the fireplace. Lots of nearby hikes and Saugerties has cool restaurants.
Harry and his wife were both extremely welcoming. Their cottage was cozy and made for a great weekend with my girlfriend. We went when the weather wasn't at its best but there was still plenty to do. We read by the indoor fireplace, cooked meals together, and there was plenty to do in the surrounding area too (like hiking). At one point we had an issue with a fire alarm but Harry quickly came over, diagnosed the problem as dying batteries, and gave us a new alarm immediately. When my girlfriend still felt a little uneasy he even offered to cover our hotel fee if the alarm went off again so it would not ruin our weekend. Although we had no other issues after that, Harry sent me a text later to check in on us, just to be safe. Harry did a very good job of being friendly while also respecting our privacy. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer but my girlfriend and I are already looking forward to going back as soon as we can.
Another wonderful stay at Harry's place. Harry told me about a wonderful site for watching waterfowl, just up the road. Earliest spring, the weather was chilly and rainy, but the spring peepers were singing! The cottage was warm and cozy, as usual.
We had a great time! Harry made us feel very, very welcome - just the right balance of checking in, but also giving us our space. The grounds are charming, very clean (and I'm picky!), and the place is clearly valued and well cared for. Lots of little unexpected amenities here and there (e.g., kitchenware, toiletries, thoughtful decor). We look forward to going back in warmer weather!
Harry made us feel very welcome. The cottage was warm and cozy when we got there (and it was freezing outside). There were lots of nice amenities like lovely towels, nightlights. It was spotless and just what my daughter and I wanted. We had come here for a writing retreat and the space was perfect. Very comfortable on a beautiful piece of property. It was winter so we couldn't see much. But we've already booked our return visit in the spring. Nothing but positive feedback from our visit. Also Harry is very dog friendly and we had three dogs with us. Also the cottage is located near some nice restaurants. We especially enjoyed the town of Palenville just a mile away. Terrific sandwich shop and good wine store. Just a great place to be.
This was our third timing staying at the cottage and I plan to keep coming back. It is the perfect location if you are looking for a little seclusion while still being close to fine dining and plenty of outdoor activities. Harry is a great host, always responsive and available which was helpful in these frigid conditions. We explored the beautiful grounds using snow shoes he left for us and had a great, relaxing weekend.
We will be back. Highly recommended!
Listing was better than described! So cozy and comfortable, a real home away from home. Harry was helpful and friendly and it was clear that our comfort mattered to him. Beautiful property too, so much to see and explore!
We loved our stay at Harry's place in the Catskills. The sculpture-filled grounds were fun to explore, the cottage was really cosy, and we loved hanging out in the cabin by the babbling brook - exactly what we were looking for. Harry was especially welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed, and also supplied lots of good food and drink tips for the nearby towns. The perfect place to hide away from Blizzard Juno! Thanks Harry!
We really enjoyed our stay at Harry's cottage. It is warm and cozy, charming, and filled with an eclectic collection of books (a plus for me). It was perfect for what we had planned: mornings of hiking in the Catskill mountains and afternoons lounging and reading by the (gas) fire. The cottage is equipped with everything you need for cooking and Harry provides supplies of coffee and teas. While we visited in winter, it would be an excellent place in the summer too - for swimming in the creek and roasting marshmallows in the firepit.
Harry could not have been a more congenial, attentive host. We highly recommend this listing.
Can't say enough wonderful things about our stay here. Very charming and clean cottage. Has lots of books, DVDs, online videos and artworks to keep you entertained. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. If you plan to stay here in winter, don't worry about the cold weather. There's a gas fireplace in living room, a heater in the bedroom and even one in the bathroom. Property is well situated- secluded yet close to town. Creek is lovely too.
Harry was very responsive to text and email. He had the place warmed up for us before we arrived, gave us some restaurant and shopping recommendations and told us if we needed anything to let him know. After that, he just let us be. Really nice place to get away from it all.
We would love to come back soon!
