Patty was a very gracious and welcoming host! I really enjoyed my stay here. Patty was pretty flexible on my arrival time (my drive took a bit longer than expected and she was pretty cool about it). The basement space was very cozy and clean, and offered plenty of privacy.
Some of the furniture, fixtures were pretty basic, maybe a little dated-- nothing glitzy. But clean, that's what matters!
Breakfast was a great selection of foods and flexible on timing. No fancy coffee offered but very close to a few excellent local coffee spots, which Patty was happy to recommend to me.
The thing that really made this place stand out was the use of Patty's private garage. I was moving across the country when I stayed here, so I was wary of parking my car on the street with so many of my belongings in it. The use of the garage (which had direct access to the private basement space) worked out really well in my circumstances.
Beware there is a cat that lives here; she's pretty friendly but might be a concern if you have allergies.
Overall a great place to stay and I felt very welcome! I would definitely recommend to a friend staying in Omaha. Thanks, Patty!
Patty was an extremely friendly and generous host. She knows the area well and is happy to provide advice on things to do and places to eat. Her house is in a quiet residential neighbourhood but with restaurants and other attractions close by. It is also within walking distance of the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The room was large and comfortable with plenty of room to relax. It has a TV and couch as well as a small writing desk and a coffee maker. The bathroom facilities, while basic, were perfectly clean and functional. I would not hesitate to recommend this as place for anyone to stay so long as the are not allergic to cats.
Had a great stay with Patty. She is very accommodating and thoughtful, asking about any preferences before my arrival. The room is large with a sofa, desk and TV making it more than just a place to sleep. The bed was very comfortable. The shower/bathroom area is in a separate area. There is also a large sink and counter area which I used as my kitchen, however, the upstairs refrigerator and microwave where also available for my use. All in all the accommodation served me well on a long business trip. Thank you Patty for your hospitality.
Patty was a fantastic host! She had great ideas for things we could do, and guidebooks and maps at the ready. The space was clean and quiet, the bed (and futon!) were comfortable, and it was super-handy to have our car right outside the door into the garage. We were able to use the laundry facilities, which saved a lot of headache. The location was just right for the places we wanted to experience in Omaha. The only word of warning I would give is that if you have an extreme aversion to cats or any evidence they have been present, you may want to find an alternative, but being cat-lovers, it didn't bother us (and she mentions that she has a cat in the listing, which stays upstairs). Thank you, Patty, for a great "home base" in Omaha!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Omaha, and Patty was a wonderful host. We did not see her very much, due to unforeseen circumstances, but she checked in frequently and answered our texts promptly when we had questions. We had the entire basement which afforded privacy for all of us. Her home is charming - neat and clean, and we had full access to the kitchen where she left us breakfast options. We also had the use of her garage for our car, and you enter directly into the basement. We were there for the College World Series, and Patty had thoughtfully saved us newspaper articles about our team! Her home was very convenient to the downtown area, Old Market District, and the TD Ameritrade Center. We hope we have the opportunity to return to Omaha and definitely hope that Patty's home will be available! We highly recommend Patty and her home if you are going to be in the Omaha area.
Patty was a really excellent host: friendly, helpful, and generous. It was a pleasure staying with her. The room was spacious and had all the amenities I needed, and was walking distance to several restaurants and stores as well as the University of Nebraska. I would not hesitate to recommend Patty to other travelers!
This was our first time using airbnb and it was our hosts first time renting on air airbnb. The reason for us coming to Omaha was for Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger’s annual Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting held at the Century Link Center.
A little bit about myself, I own a duplex that I live in on one side and have rented out the other side for the last 35 years. I have traveled extensively and stayed in all sorts of different types of lodging.
I found our hosts lodging clean, neat, pleasant and quiet. The neighborhood seemed the same way also. Our stay was for 2 nights and 3 days and we packed those days full with activities all over Omaha. With the help of my Samsung Galaxy S3 and Motorola Roadster 2 using (website hidden) maps providing navigation we were able to make it everywhere in Omaha fast and efficient.
Our host who was born and raised in Omaha and also provided many other extremely helpful tips on getting around the city with must see and do’s.
One unique feature of this rental is the fact you can use the garage to park your car in and then walk right into your accommodations. You get the use of the garage door opener and have a safe and secure place to park your car. For myself I found this to be very cool! I found this feature to be very handy with just a few short steps I could retrieve and place things in my car or take out things from the car and place inside and be on my way again all with never having to step outside. So what’s the bottom line…would I rent this place again? Absolutely because I was looking for lodging affordability for my stay in Omaha for Berkshire weekend and with the money we saved we spent it on dining out and shopping. We had a great fun filled weekend and made a new friend with our stay here. Many thanks to our gracious host for making it all happen. Phil & Candy
