We weren't able to meet Vanessa, but she was as good as being there herself, because she was just a text message away, and quick to answer any question or request we might have. She had her assistant pick us up from the port, and show us around the house. The house is as pictured, and had a lovely beach out front! The veranda is out by the seawall, but it's just a few steps to the beach access.
The location is perfect: gorgeous stretch of white beach, near the port, shops, and restaurants. Though we did not go on any tours, Vanessa has contacts in Bantayan who can take you on a tour of the island.
While the house is a small, my cousin and I had ample space to ourselves without getting up in each other's face all the time. The kitchen is well stocked, though we opted to eat out. This would be great for those staying longer and want to cook their own meals.
We had a lovely time in Bantayan, and staying at Vanessa's beachfront house definitely added to the positive experience of the place!

Bantayan Island is a little piece of paradise and Vanessa’s beachfront house is just the perfect place to enjoy it.
The house itself is clean, beautifully decorated and offers a stunning terrace right on the beach with perfect views over the sea. It easily accommodates 4 people with two separate bedrooms and bathrooms. The beach in front of the house boasts soft white sand, some palm trees for shading and crystal clear waters.
Vanessa and Stefan are the friendliest and most helpful hosts you could imagine. They own a little bakery in Santa Fe where they served breakfast for us and invited us over for BBQ with their friends. They even prepared dinner with dessert and brought it by the house. And of course they provided all the useful tips and help you could ask for, including an arranged taxi to pick us up from the airport, rented motorcycles and an island tour to Virgin Island with seafood BBQ on the beach.
The Filipinos are a very warm and welcoming people. They smile and greet you whenever you pass by on the street, they all speak English and they sometimes invite you to have a beer with them. Most of all they are very trustworthy and honest. At no point in time we felt unsafe on the island and never did we feel like being cheated on when it came to prices. Overall all the food, drinks and activities are very affordable on Bantayan and it’s just the least to honor the friendly services with generous tips.
Overall, I can recommend going to Bantayan Island and rent Vanessa’s beach front house without hesitating for a second!
If airbnb was all about great hosting, then I have met one of the best hosts. Vanessa was patient in asking all my questions with regards to transportation and about the island. When we arrived, there was a tri-sikad (a bicycle with a cart that can sit around 3 people) waiting for us to bring to the house. The house was comfy the beds were soft and the kitchen was equipped with a microwave, fridge, and a cooking range w/ oven. During our stay, Vanessa helped us rent bicycle to go around Sta. Fe, and recommended us where we can eat and we weren't disappointed with her recommendation. Next morning, her assistant Noel brought over Coffee, Hot Chocolate and some breads for our breakfast, she was there to welcome us when we arrived and was there to talk to us about our stay and how we were before we left. It feels as if I have met a new friend and we had such a good time that we wanted to come back and stay at the lovely, cozy beach house :)
I travelled to Bantayan Island and stayed at Vanessa's lovely beach house in August 2013. From my home in Tokyo, it was a journey from Manila, Cebu City, then to Bantayan, but my travel companion and I feel that it was definitely worth the trip! The house is cute, clean, and cozy. It is steps away from the beach, perhaps 6 or 7 steps to the water to be exact! We stayed for 2 days and what a treat it was to wake up to the stunning sunrise and still waters, to take a dip in crystal clear water, and sit back on the porch staring at the distance.
Vanessa owns a bakery just a short distance away, and she was always accessible and accommodating. Try her malunggay pandesal - its amazing! The chocolate rice is a must-try as well. Other restaurants are a short walk away. If you need wifi, no worries, the house has two wifi options, both great!
Not only is she a kind and helpful host, she helped my friend and I rent a scooter. We drove around Bantayan for the day, exploring lush mango groves, friendly villages, and untouched beaches! I couldn't believe the beach by the old pier. Butterflies flying about, shallow and crystal clear water, with no one else in sight!
Clearly, I could rave on and on about Vanessa's beach house and what is offered to visitors to Bantayan, but I'll let you find out more of the wonders that await. I fully recommend this to anyone and everyone. Check it out! You won't regret it.
I met Vanessa when my husband and I vacationed in Cebu, Philippines in November 2012. We spent some time at her beach house. Her beach house is very quaint and lovely. It is very relaxing that you don't want to leave; just want to sit out in the porch and stare at the ocean all day. We rented a motorbike and Vanessa gave us a tour of the whole entire Bantayan Island. Because of this experience, thanks to Vanessa, we will definitely go back to Bantayan Island again. I highly recommend that you check out Vanessa's beach house; not only will you enjoy the accomodations but you will also appreciate the warm hospitality that you will get from a trustworthy owner/host. One thing for sure, we had an amazing time in the island as well as gained a life-long friend.
