The cottage is wonderful. We really felt at home during our stay. Stacey and Dave were very welcoming and gave great advices on things to do around. I highly recommend it.
hope to see you again
Stacey made me very welcome. The cottage has a convenient layout and would nicely accommodate a longer stay. The closet had a built-in desk and plenty of space to stow things. Besides the lanai for dining, there was a side yard with a picnic table that caught the morning sun and had a view of the ocean. Outdoor bath with on demand water heating. Plenty of towels, extra linens, bottled water, and a thoughtful collection of kitchen gear. I felt well taken care of. Plan to return.
Stacey was there to great us when we arrived and show us around and make us feel very comfortable. Her husband Dave was kind enough to call us the day before to find out when we were planning to arrive to make sure Stacey could be there. The place was tastefully decorated with a fully stocked kitchen. It was very private and although a bit south of Captain Cook, everything is pretty close on the Big Island and there were plenty of near by beaches and things to see near the house. The fresh oranges on the property were amazing, such a treat. We were at the tail end of our honeymoon and it was a lovely place to hang out before we got on a plane back to Canada. Thanks Stacey and Dave!
May you have a long and happy life together.
We had a wonderful time at Stacey's cottage! It was cozy and as-advertised with thoughtful decor and amenities. The property was beautiful, with an ocean view from the yard (ideal for sunsets), an orange grove, avocado trees and a neighbor pig who came over to visit and hang out. The location was great for exploring the west and south sides of the island.
We were greeted by one of the lovely caretakers as the owners had been delayed on the mainland by plane troubles (as were we) and we felt completely welcomed. We had all the information we needed to be comfortable there and found the place to be accurately represented. When the owners finally got home they came over and greeted us in person... very friendly. When we lost electricity due to a storm Stacey was there within minutes with candles and a flashlight. All around a great experience. I recommend it highly for folks who want to have the best sunset view on that side of the island!
Stacey and Dave were very welcoming, had fresh oranges and avocado when we arrived. The setting was very peaceful and quiet, perfect for our honeymoon on the big island.
This was a great place to experience real Hawaii. The accommodations were great, so were the views. There were beautiful citrus and avocado trees. The hosts were very helpful with directions; a very nice couple.
Stacey is an extremely considerate, thoughtful, and gracious host. She has infused the cottage with her artistic sensibility and many subtle amenities that both new visitors and seasoned travelers will appreciate. Her properties are very tasteful and welcoming, and Stacey and David seem to have anticipated just about everything that guests need to be comfortable. They have lived on the Big Island for many years and know a lot about the local culture. The cottage library has a great set of maps, brochures, and tour books to help newcomers get around.
I spent a week at Stacey’s cottage and cannot wait to return. It is private yet not isolated (Stacey’s studio is right next door, and it is a real privilege to be near the realm of a hard-working artist). She and David are respectful, friendly, flexible, and great communicators. They have delicious fresh fruits growing on the property which they generously offer to guests (my only regret was picking a few too soon, out of ignorance…Sorry about that, Stacey!) The only thing other guests might want to know is that the cottage is approximately 25 miles from Konatown, which on a single-lane slow road is approximately 45 minutes' drive. On the other hand, it is near some of the holiest Polynesian sites on the Big Island (City of Refuge, etc.) as well as several beaches and coffee plantations. I absolutely loved the rural feel and aloha of Captain Cook.
Having stayed at a number of Airbnb venues, I can confidently and enthusiastically recommend Stacey’s cottage and Stacey and David as impeccable, delightful hosts. Mahalo, David and Stacey, and a hui ho!
