Hey, I'm just a guy who relocated to Chicago from Fargo, ND. I work as a restaurant manager so I usually am available until late afternoon for exchanges and whatnot.
Matthew's studio is super comfortable, cozy and charming! Matt is a wonderful host who went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed. The location really is ideal for Chicago as it is billed in Matt's description, with everything a traveler could need within walking distance. Matt left us fresh flowers and fruit and was absolutely wonderful. The bed is really comfy with soft sheets and lots of pillows. I also really like that it's in a secure building. I hope to stay at his place again if my daughter's dream comes true and she gets into The Theatre School at DePaul!
Location! Location! Location! This very small studio is perfectly located for someone who wants to stay in Lincoln Park. Around the corner from all sorts of shops, coffee, supermarket and about a 15 minute walk to the El.
I found a few inconveniences with the apartment. The ventilation was very poor as the weather was warm and there was no visible means of controlling air flow. A fan to circulate air would have been helpful.
Very poor lighting such that I couldn't read at night.
The bathroom was so small that after showering, I was unable to dry myself off in it& had to step outside the roomto do so.
Cable reception was poor to non-existent, so watching TV was very easy though there was a DVD player and videos. There was no decent cable. The 3 major networks were available but little else.
Cleanliness was an issue. There were several long hairs found from a woman, I suppose, on the comforter and the floor which had not been adequately swept. This did not bode well with me. I also found several clumps of dust in the corners and around the edges on the floor. It was apparent that someone lives in the apartment because the closest was full of clothes and there was lots of food in the fridge.
Another inconvenience was that In order to get into the apartment I had to go to downtown Chicago to pick up the key which was extremely inconvenient. Another arrangement for accessing the apartment should have been made available. because Matthew was working when I arrived. As I am unfamiliar with the Chicago bus system, taking a bus downtown to the host's place of business, as was suggested, was not a viable option. Fortunately, my son was able to drive me. But otherwise, I don't know how I would have gotten to his place of work without taking a bus as Matt suggested.
Street noise woke me up each morning…trucks picking up garbage it appears…
Future renters should be aware of these issues before deciding if this place will work for them.
Would not stay there again.
My husband and I stayed in this lovely Lincoln Park studio for two nights. We had a wonderful time - the apartment is cozy, well maintained, clean and conveniently located. Matthew was a pleasure to work with and very accommodating.
Matthew was communicative throughout the booking process and the stay, and was responsive to any requests. The studio was clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The location offers access to transportation, restaurants, the park and the lake, making it easy to get around. Matthew checked in with us during our stay to see if we needed anything, which would be helpful if a person was not familiar with the area. The studio is small, but there is ample seating in the lobby for reading or visiting. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. A great spot for visiting Chicago!
Matthew was a fantastic host! He was extremely helpful in getting me acquainted with Chicago. The studio is in a great location with easy access to downtown via the bus. In addition, it was impeccably clean and perfect place to come back to each night. would absolutely stay at the Lincoln Park Studio again!
Matthew was a great host. He was flexible about check in and check out times. He made sure I knew where everything was. It is a great studio apartment perfect for what I needed. I would stay there again in an instant.
The studio was in a great location. A short walk from the zoo and all other sorts of shops and eateries. The studio was a bit "intimate" as mentioned before, but it was super clean, beautifully decorated and the bed was super comfortable. It slept me and 2 others comfortably (with air mattress on the floor). I would most definitely stay here again. Matt is a sweetheart and really takes care of his guests. Highly recommended. P.S. the whale mobile makes it all the more worth it.
Excellent location- just outside Lincoln Park, plus walking distance to food, shopping, and convenience stores. The studio is very small- it's not particularly suited for more than 2 people who are comfortable sleeping and changing together (we are a married couple), and note that the shower is not handicap-friendly if that is a concern. Women may wish to prepare their own toiletries if they need them (there is a Walgreens conveniently down the block). However, it is great for bachelors and other low-key no-frills guests who do not require luxury accomodations nor a view- the park is right outside anyhow. The apartment is very nicely decorated (love the whale mobile), the bed is comfortable, the location is great, and it is good value for money overall. Recommended.
Matthew is one of the kindest most responsible people in the city of Chicago. He consistently follows through on his obligations and excels in any endeavors he puts his mind to. This is definitely the kind of person you want to work with on Airbnb!
