I am a Chinese middle-aged woman, love of travel, music, and cuisine. Plans to travel the world.I love meditation life.
We'd be happy to host again.
Ya came to visit with her daughter, and they were both wonderful people! The weather was horrible, tons of snow, but it didn't damper their spirits nor desire to see the city. We had the chance to chat about China, current events, and what our homes and families are like. Ya is very sweet, and we enjoyed a few meals together, and she was interested in trying real American food and American lives. She was here for Lunar New Year, so we got to have a nice dinner and enjoy the fireplace--not fireworks, but still a big red fire! I would definitely invite her back again!
What a wonderful and fun guest. This is the second time Yasming has stayed in my home.
She is always so full of life and curiosity along with an open heart.
We enjoy meals together - we trade off cooking so we both learn new things. Always respectful, cheery and very neat.
Looking forward to future visits. If you have the opportunity to host her, please do so - she is great.
What wonderful guests! Ya and her daughter Stella stayed at my home for over a week and they always so polite and respectful. Ya and I took turns cooking and sharing how to prepare Chinese and American foods, along with great conversations. Both Ya and Stella were also very independent filling days with going to yoga class, visiting schools and the Getty Museum on their own.
I found communication very easy and the entire experience joyful.
They are certainly welcome to book at my home again!
Ya and her daughter were very friendly and respectful guests. Their last day before departure, Ya cooked some Chinese food and we had a great conversation. Highly recommended for any host.
Ya and her family were wonderful guests. They treated our home like it was their own and took great care of everything. Ya is very understanding and communicative. I highly recommend her and her family as guests to any home.
Ya was a great, and very communicative guest. I really enjoyed hosting her, and hope to host her again in the future!
She is a very respectable and well mannered person. I was happy having her :)
Ya was great, we loved her. She made the house fun and taught me how to make Chinese food.
When I first learned that Ya was coming from China to stay with me for a week, I was under the impression that she didn't speak a word of English. When I asked her about it in one of our email correspondences, she admitted that she used "google translate" to translate her Chinese into my English. Thus, I was concerned and prepared plenty of paper with hopes that simple drawings might help us bridge the rather large river of languages differences which separated us.
So when she first entered my space, I was pleasantly surprised to hear her speak english quite well, including the communication of complex ideas and concepts. Granted, it sometimes took me a moment or two to figure out a word or phrase, the pronunciation with which she had difficulty. It sometimes took her a while to figure out a word or phrase that I similarly was trying to communicate. Nonetheless, I am happy to report that in general our communications flowed relatively smoothly, especially around the basics. And upon my request, she even taught me a few more (than the 6 or 7 I already knew) words in Chinese, for which I am very grateful, a phrase I can now say in her language.
In addition, I was delighted that Ya accepted my invitation to use the whole space, including the second living room desk, at which she used her computer, read the newspaper and communicated on her iPhone. When she told me she does yoga, I encouraged her to use the soft, freshly cleaned throw rug and we did yoga at the same time. It gave me a good feeling that Ya took my offers seriously and was able to fully share the space with me. This is the best house mates can offer one another, sharing space, enjoying one another's company.
During the day, Ya had places to go and sites to see, keeping quite a full schedule. She was very independent, taking any transportation information I gave her and figuring out the most appropriate way for her to get around. She respected my house rules, kept everything clean and orderly and communicated what was needed.
Having Ya here was a wonderful experience for me. We had a pleasant time together and I would have her back in a heartbeat.
