We had a great stay at Bulents apartment. The location was fantastic, lots of great bars and restaurants around, and very central to some of the attractions around the city.
The flat looked just like the pictures, and was really warm and cozy, there was also plenty of spare towels etc.
Bulent was really welcoming, he wasn't able to let us in the flat himself, however one of his staff from the burger restaurant downstairs let us in and showed us everything we needed. Bulent was very accessible by phone as well.
Great flat, and excellent value for money.
We had a great stay at Bulent's apartment. The only issue was the ceiling hight of approximately 1.85m. The apartment still feels large and the terrace windows provide great light, however as a tall visitor I had some trouble standing up straight. The neighborhood is great and the Tram line is no more than 100m away and is a great way to get to all classic tourist attractions. The best restaurants, bars and cafés are in walking distance anyway. We had no trouble finding the apartment and simply picked up the key at Bulent's restaurant, above which the flat is located.
The flat was very well located and clean. We had a lovely stay in Istanbul, I would recommand it to everyone else.
Bulent was incredibly helpful and was great at communicating both before and during the trip. The apartment was lovely. Compact but had all we needed. Clean, and nicely decorated. Lots of extra blankets and towels if needed. Location was amazing. If staying in the more tourist areas you may miss all that karakoy has to offer. Some gorgeous bars, cafés, restaurants and independent shops selling different stuff to all the tourist markets. Not far to walk to Galata tower or the bridge to take you over to where more of the 'typical' tourist sights are. Also the tram stop is very close which I would definitely recommend using to get about.
All-in-all, it was a fantastic trip based in a lovely location being hosted by the wonderful Bulent!
Would return and definitely would recommend!
We had a nice stay at Bulents flat in Istanbul. We found the flat relatively easily. We found Bulent at his cute restaurant (Burgerlab) which is at the base of the flat building. He and his wife were very friendly and we chatted for a bit before Bulent kindly made a 2 page list of recommendations of what to do during our 4 night stay, which included some things apart from the obvious touristy things. The flat itself is pretty much as described. It's a compact space and relatively modern but is showing signs of lack of maintenance. We also felt the flat was tidy, but not very clean ie the sheets did not smell very fresh and there are loads of smashed mosquitos on the ceiling. We kindly advised Bulent to check up on the person that is being paid to clean the flat. WIFI was reliable which was rare on our journeys in Turkey, but we could not get the TV to function properly according to the instructions, but I'm sure Bulent could have sorted it out if we had bothered contacting him. Note some of these comments were also noted by the previous people renting. We did not leave the patio doors open and did not use the patio so cannot comment on the greasy exhaust smell other than to say it did not bother us. The location is fantastic - 15 minute walk down to Galata bridge and 15 minutes walk uphill to the start of the very cool Istiklal street. Also tram station just around the corner. There are plenty of really cool restaurants and stores around the area, including a great bakery just around the corner that made amazing fresh bagels each morning. Overall our stay at Bulents was very enjoyable and Istanbul is now probably the coolest city I ever visited (after Montreal of course ;-)
We really liked staying here and Bulent was a really good host.
I would absolutely recommend the flat.
Bulent's place is nicely situated and the apartment is very cute. However we would have liked the place to be cleaner considering a cleaning fee was charged. The bedsheets did not look like they had been changed and the floors were dirty. The shower also overflowed and we had to remove parts of the wood floor to clean out the drain of hair (from previous guests) so that the water would not keep overflowing.
Also there was mass construction at all hours starting as early as 7am. We wish we had been warned of this - Karaloy is developing rapidly and its an exciting place but we were in the middle of a full-on construction site and wish we had been informed of this prior to making our booking. The terrace was filthy with dust and construction debris. We tried to clean it to sit there but it was dirty again within a few hours and so we ended up never being able to use it. Also, there is a huge exhaust from a kebab who that empties tight on to the terrace and this emanated an almost nauseating smell.
We wanted to love our experience and even swept the floors to start off on a good clean footing but overall we were not that comfortable being in a slightly neglected apartment.
Bon séjour dans l'appartement qui correspond bien à la description donnée sur le site
Bulent's flat is great. It's very well located: in this area there are a lot of cute restaurants and bars and it's close to everything (Istanbul modern museum, the old town, Galata tower, the bosphorus...). The apartment is like on the pictures, cosy and confortable. For two it's great! The only thing is we couldn't really enjoy the terrasse because there was a strong smell of fry meat, which comes from the hot-air duct of the restaurant in front of the building. Aside from that, Bulent was a nice host, helpful and available to answer to our questions. I recommend Bulent's place!
Bülent’s apartment is very nice, very clean and even though it is smalish the room layout makes it convenient enough to stay there with a group of 3 (We stayed for 9 days.). It’s a rooftop apartment, so it can get hot during the Istanbul summer, but the AC works very well. Bülent is very helpful and responses quickly. We had a case of a broken water boiler and he replaced it within a few hours. Only downside that needs to be mentioned is the air escape of the baklava-factory across the street, which noisily blasts warm and and smelly air unto the terrace (of Bülent’s apartment), which takes getting used to. Aside from that everything was really great and I will surely come back!
Bulent and his wife were excellent guests… Very easy to communicate with and kept the place nice and tidy…they are welcome back anytime!
