Hi, I am a photographer and designer and all around maker of things. I used to rent out a beautiful houseboat in Amsterdam but I recently decided to move back home to Austin, Texas.
Great location, close enough to the city center yet very calm and peaceful at the same time. It's close to tram and bus stations and the Brouwerij 't IJ is a must see.
The house is very comfortable and cozy, although it might need a bit more of a cleaning. We had a great time sitting at the porch and watching the ducks pass by.
We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay here. We loved sitting out on the porch watching the ducks and geese, we found everything we needed in the kitchen to cook a nice breakfast every morning, and we loved that we were just down the street from a Brewery set in one of Amsterdam's 7? windmills.
I would highly recommend this houseboat! It was spacious and clean and full of sunlight. Not to mention the great patio out back over the water. We very much enjoyed the neighbourhood as well (when we could tear ourselves away from the patio), with fun local restaurants and a brewery.
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience here. I agree it is in a great location - easy to get around with access to trams and buses and a local supermarket.
Out complaint was with how clean it was. The owner was away and we were met by her friend. The place had not been cleaned from the previous occupants, with stained sheets, hairs in the bath, full rubblish bin, dirty glasses around the place etc. Once we made contact with the friend she did come back and clean and it was much impoved but i am afraid our views were tainted by then. So it was then clean on a superficial level but it needed a proper clean. Beware you are hiring someones home - their food is in the fridge (half eaten), things shoved under bed, toilteries thrown in drawers and random home drawn art selotaped to the wall. It is not a new bathroom - lots of mold and mildew and sealant haging off shower glass.
If it has a good deep clean and a realistic add (so you know what you are hiring) then it would be a good place to stay.
Amazing place - great diggs/great location. Just far enough from downtown to avoid the tourists en masse, but easily walkable to the city center. The house is extremely cozy and much larger than we anticipated. Sarah gave us some great recommendations, including the amazing windmill brewery about a block away from the house, a great neighborhood cafe, and a place to rent legitimate Dutch bicycles. It was an incredible experience, I only wish we could've stayed longer!
We had a wonderful time staying in Sarah's houseboat. The location was great- secluded enough to be peaceful, but also well connected either via bike or public transport. The boat was much bigger than we expected, which meant staying in and making dinner and drinking wine was the perfect activity for a rainy evening, especially given the well-equipped kitchen and record collection. Sarah's place accommodated four adults quite comfortably and was exactly as she described it in her ad. We could not have been more satisfied. Sarah and Arun went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, we were very greatful- Highly recommend.
Very cute property, warm and cosy, with a well-equipped kitchen. Great location, just a short bus or taxi ride from the centre of the city. Also, the brewerie at the end of the end of the road (Brouweij't IJ) is charming and well worth a daily visit.
However, wouldn't stay there with more than 4 people as the bedding situation gets a bit cramped., and also the house could have been cleaner.
we unfortunately didnot meet Sarah, though found her place welcoming and comfortable. Being unprepared as we were, we were happy to find Amsterdam information and guides to our disposal.
Maybe not the cleanest, but a very nice place to stay.
A very good place to stay!!!Quiet, romantic and cool!
Lovely place, friendly host. Great place near to restaurant/takeaways and bus stop (all up just a 2 min walk) . Quick/cheap bus ride to Amsterdam centre.
Loved it and will go again
Sarah was great ! I didn't get to see her much we were both busy working but I liked her right away, she is a generous person & would welcome her back anytime. My only regret is that I would have liked to have talked with her some more- she is a very interesting wordly person.
Sarah and her friend are two amazing interesting and loveley people! I really liked to have them over here, it was such a pitty that they there stay was so short and i had to leave them because i had to go away myself! It was truly a pleasure to host them, so do it! :)
