I am a retired civil rights lawyer for the City of San Francisco. Since retiring I have been teaching English in foreign countries as a volunteer: two years in Jordan, one year in South Sudan, as well as traveling extensively in Africa, Asia and now Europe. I hope to teach English in southeast Turkey next year. I have four adult children and nine grandchildren, most of whom are in college.
I love travel for all that it opens up: history, art, culture, food, natural beauty. That is why Indonesia, Turkey and Eithiopia are among my favorite countries to visit. I think the internet is the best thing that ever happened to personal, budget travel.
As a guest I am quiet, respectful and considerate of the host's property and lifestyle. This is partially because I own (and live in) an apartment building and have come to value these qualities among my neighbors who are also my tenants. I also rent out my apartment while I am traveling which makes me sympathetic to other hosts.
