We are a couple in our thirties with a cute one year old baby.
We stayed for 3 nights at Emilie's place and it was a great place for what we needed. The house is a bit of a fixer-uper (in progress) so you have to be willing to deal with a few oddities, but we didn't have an issue with it.
The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower very hot with good water pressure, the heater worked very well and the place was clean.
The neighborhood was great for us (30 something couple from SF) although the block the house is on is pretty dark with a homes in disrepair.
Interesting home, clean and comfortable. Emilie was a great hostess, making sure we had everything we needed.
The best experience yet with airbnb! The whole place was just... Whoa. So perfect! As soon as you walk in the door the awesomeness will slap you in the face. It's even better than the pictures. I want to go again and stay longer so I can stay in all the rooms at least once. ooh that's one of the really good things about La Palapa, all the beds are HUGE! And soooo comfy. The art was inspiring, everything we needed was provided, and it's easy to find + in a great location. I can't wait to go back! Thank you so much Emilie! P.S. The host has the sexiest accent ever. XD
Absolutely splendid. Emilie was extra nice & even took me out to get groceries when I arrived. The house is beautiful & feels lively. Great energy =).
My only warning would be for folks with cat allergies, might not be an ideal place for you even if your allergies are only mild.
a quiet hideaway suiteable for anywhere from one to five people. Pleasant walk to breakfast spots and interesting shops, a short drive downtown or to the airport. I'd recommend this spot to anyone wanting to be close to action, but not necessarily in middl of the hustle and buslte of downtown Portland. Check out theg Tin Shack on Alberta for an early breakfast, or head the other way to Gravy. a great start to any day.
A great character home on a quiet street. A short walk to some hip neighborhoods. Would stay here again.
La Palapa truly is colorful, comfy and huge! Emilie was really easy to work with and so generous with her home. It was like staying at a friend's house - except the friend wasn't there. My one regret is that I didn't get to meet you, Emilie! Her price is tremendous too. What a great bargain. Thanks Emilie! Oh and the house is near PIX PATISSERIE: WHAT could be better?!?
Emilie was a very responsive host and flexible to our changing schedule. All the beds were comfortable and free parking out front helped us out. Would recommend.
We lucked out when we chose La Palapa for a five-day stay in Portland--our first visit to the city. The house is in a quiet neighborhood, just a few blocks from our daughter's apartment. Host Emilie was cheerful and helpful, yet respectful of our privacy. Beds and seating were comfy, lighting was good, water pressure in the shower was great. Tomatoes in her backyard garden were delicious (thanks for sharing, Emilie!) Poppet the house kitty was good company. We would definitely stay here again.
Very comfortable and quiet.
