I had a wonderful time staying in Melissa's beautiful apartment. The room was fresh and functional and the perfect calming haven I was looking for. Melissa helped me find all the things I needed in the town and suggested a great route for running!
My best friend from college was getting married in Durham, and I needed a room to stay in after the reception on Saturday evening. I changed my check-in time several times because the wedding schedule kept changing, and Melissa was completely accomodating and gave me a warm welcome when I finally arrived. When I checked out the following morning Melissa was kind enough to have a chat and share her coffee with me.
The apartment is lovely and has a very arty feel, which fits in perfectly with the vibe of the surrounding area. The guest room does not have a window, which did not bother me one bit but may be something to consider if you are staying for a longer time.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend staying here!
I would highly recommend this apartment to anybody staying in Durham for a couple of days or longer. Melissa is a great host, she makes you feel very welcome. I really liked the room, it is cosy and has enough space to store clothes and the likes. Also, Melissa allows to use the well-equiped kitchen, which i really liked. In sum: highly recommended!
Melissa was extremely welcoming and made me feel at home. The apartment is located downtown, very central to Duke's campus and the rest of Durham. I was in town for an interview at Duke, last minute couldn't find a cab and she offered to drop me off (exceeding my expectations above and beyond). The apartment itself is very cutely decorated and cozy and you have access to cook in the kitchen. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Durham.
Her apartment is beautiful and VERY close to duke and walking distance to a lot of interesting places. I her warmth welcome right away! thank you
Melissa was a fantastic host, explained everything I needed to know upon my arrival and was knowledgeable about the area. Great, airy common space with lots of natural lighting and a door for the room for privacy. Felt very welcome and part of her home. I only stayed for one night, but it was the epitome of Southern hospitality and the best AirBnb experience I've had thus far.
Melissa is a great host! She makes you feel welcome in her home and shared spaces. She carves out space in the bathroom and kitchen area just for guests. The accommodations are clean and comfortable. The only thing to keep in mind is that the room you stay in doesn't have windows.
Would definitely recommend to a friend. Thanks Melissa! :-)
I stayed at Melissa's for five weeks and enjoyed her hospitality and the great location of the flat. The guest room is small but has a good mattress, and good shelf and storage space. The shared main living space is open plan and very big. I enjoyed staying there, it was a very friendly environment with all the advantages of living in an apartment rather than a hotel room; but naturally has less privacy.
My experience with Melissa was absolutely FANTASTIC--Probably my best so far with airbnb. Her apartment is absolutely gorgeous, so beautifully decorated, and the room cozy but big enough. I was spending most of my time at Duke or UNC, but I occasionally staid home to work in that wonderful, spacious and sunny living room. I loved the neighborhood too--at walking distance from almost everywhere I wanted to go--Downtown Durham, Geer Street (love it!), Farmers Market, East Campus. And just some 5 minutes away from the Free Bus Stop (BCC). And Melissa is just awesome. She made me feel at home right away--she has this rare mixture of care, warmth and respect that I so much value. I never felt lonely, but I never felt oppressed. Even though our schedules were quite different, we had so many good chats… so many things in common! Durhan is a stunning city but I am sure that my staying at Melissa's made a difference. I hope I'll be able to go back some time!
Melissa's loft is lovely and she is a wonderful, welcoming host. I very much enjoyed the 2+ weeks that I stayed 500 N. Duke Street. It's proximity to Downtown & North Durham, as well as Duke campus are extremely convenient. Melissa made sure to make space for me and made me feel comfortable staying, working, & eating in her space.
Very nice guest to have for two nights at my home- courteous, quiet, clean- highly recommended
Melissa was a pleasure to have around. We appreciated how respectful and quiet, yet friendly she was. She left the room spotless and organized on departure. We highly recommend her and would welcome her back anytime.
I'm Conrad, the owner and unfortunately I was out of town and didn't get a chance to meet Melissa, but my Manager, Nate, was here and he said the Poliers were great!
Melissa was a wonderful guest: super-neat, considerate, both charming and centered. We hope she returns so we can continue the many interesting conversations we started.
