We just came back from staying at Chris's apartment for a week. The views were incredible, the building seems brand new (under 5 years old I believe) and the pictures show pretty much exactly what you can expect the first time you walk in the door. The apartment's location was perfect - so close to Times Square with easy access to most of the major subway/bus lines. The place was quiet at night and the AC units worked wonders to keep the place cool during the 100 degree heat.
Chris was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. His replies were consistent and fast. We had 5 people in our group and he was able to accommodate us. He provided an extra inflatable air mattress so that no one had to sleep on the floor. The whole check-in process was very easy. Even though the apartment was high up (which is why the views were so great) there was never a hassle waiting for the elevators which moved fast. (You can see the statue of liberty from his window!)
This was our first time renting an apartment and after this experience we would probably do it again.
The only thing that detracted from our overall experience was the cleanliness of the apartment. I know that our visit coincided exactly with Chris' vacation, so I can understand that he was probably in just as much of a rush to pack/leave as we were. I am hoping that this was just a one-time occurrence and will not affect any future renters of Chris apartment as much as it did affect our group. The bathroom definitely needed a clean. The tub drained extremely slowly causing all of the residue to deposit on the sides (which was most likely due to it being plugged.) There was no toilet paper in the apartment so we had to buy a couple of rolls upon arrival. The dishwasher was full of dirty unwashed dishes. There was some rotten smelling, unwrapped meat stored in the fridge which should have been tossed out a week ago.
Again, I hope that this was just a one-time occurrence. The apartment would have been a 5 star visit, but it is just not that fun when the first thing you have to do upon arrival is spend 30 minutes cleaning/tidying up and taking inventory of the things we needed to buy. We decided to wash all of the towels and bedding because we assumed that their condition matched the apartment's. We bought our own laundry detergent and made sure to run the dishwasher and laundry machine before we check-out.
The reservation was canceled 9 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Chris' apartment is amazing. Great south facing view of Times Square and downtown from the 40th floor! Nice, very modern place. Chris was extremely accommodating, letting me drop my bags off when I arrived in the morning and allowing me the opportunity to drop in later in the evening when I needed to. When I did get in later, he was personable and interesting to converse with.
An absolutely stunning appartment and the most delightful host. During my stay at Chris appartment I had a great time. He was very helpful and polite, it was like staying at a luxery hotel.
And the view is amazing!
Great apartment!! I spent most of my time sitting by the window enjoying the wonderful view. Chris's place is clean and very inviting, it felt like home. Given the chance I would love to stay there again.
It was an honor and a priveledge to stay at Chris’s place. The view along with the location is AMAZING! Staying here was such a treat! The apartment is just like the pictures. You feel like you are staying at a four star hotel. There are always cabs waiting outside the building to get you where to need to go and you are steps away from a bus stop. The doorman are friendly and are there 24/7. We had free Wi-Fi, Cable and a washer and dryer available anytime we needed. Chris was extremely helpful with any questions we had. From the time we checked in to the time we checked out our stay was amazing!
Side Note: If you buy the New York City pass, Chris’s apartment is steps away from the Circle Line Cruise pick up location, Pier 83. This is such a huge plus!
Want to be a hop, jump and skip away from NYC's Freedom Towers and Battery City Park?
Chris's apartment downtown was convenient, clean and roomy as described. Private apartment to yourself, which is a plus. Security is no worry with a 24-hour doorman (nice guys by the way) and a little deli/grocery literally around the corner, also 24-hours.
Need a breather? Take a walk not even 10 feet from his place and enjoy the view of the magnificent Hudson River and the NJ skyline.
I would say it's comfy and cozy for a woman who did some damage shopping! Only thing that I could have enjoyed was the cable box that wasn't working during my stay, although wi-fi did help.
Chris is helpful and on hand with a response if you needed him.
Chris and sissy were great guests. They were very personable, clean and considerate. I would have them as a guest anytime. Cheers Chris and Sissy!
Chris was a great guest. I would recommend him to any host. He is quiet, clean and considerate of others. It was a pleasure to have him. He has an open invitation to my home anytime! :-D
I have known Chris for more than 20 years and he has hosted me at his apartment on multiple occasions. We have also done business together. In all endeavors, I have found him to be trustworthy, gracious, and very responsive. I would highly recommend him and his apartment.
Chris is actually part of the reason I decided to become an airbnb host myself. He is a friend from work that I've known for almost 2-3 years. As a friend, he's got a great sense of humor, is easy to get along with, super sharp and really supportive. I would definitely recommend Chris--hope you get the chance to meet him as well!
