Our time in Margate was wonderful. Sam's flat is gorgeous, beautifully decorated, modest and comfortable. There isn't a television and there are lots of books which we really enjoyed. Whilst it was cold outside it was very warm in the flat, and Sam left us some basic foods and drinks on arrival which was a really nice touch. We would definitely stay here again.
We had a lovely weekend in Sam's apartment. His directions to the flat couldn't have been clearer and the place was very tastefully furnished and sparkling clean. The location was also just as described, near the cutest bits of Margate with easy access to the Turner museum and the beach, as well as the Viking Trail along the coast.
Arriving at Sam's flat after a lengthy journey was a delight - easy to find, fantastic location in the heart of Margate old town and beautifully appointed with a mixture of retro and antique furniture. Food in the fridge too - thanks Sam! Sam's flat is unique - really suited us for a winter break - Relaxed ambience, well appointed and clearly cared for with quirky touches to both delight and inspire. The flat is in an area of Margate that (only just) survived 1960's 'modernisation'. There is a real renaissance going on in the Old Town area with good places to eat and browse but straying out of the old town quickly reminds you how Margate - like many other seaside towns - has suffered economically. For a short break it was great. For a longer stay we would have wanted to travel farther afield. So, great place, great location, great host. Thanks Sam - thoroughly recommended.
We had an amazing time in Sam's apartment! The place is stylish, beautifully decorated, inviting and cosy. It's location is great, less than a couple of minutes from the sea side, restaurants bars and do on. Sam was a great host, friendly, accommodating, left us breakfast on the fridge. I would thoroughly
recommend this place, perfect for a weekend brake! Sitron
We really enjoyed our two night stay in Sam's beautiful apartment.
As many of the other reviews have mentioned, it was lovely that Sam had left some breakfast food & juice, and welcomed us with a note.
The apartment is very light and airy - lovely plants & elegantly furnished.
It was my first time using Air BnB and I had lots of questions - Sam responded to emails very promptly and was kind and generous towards us, and let us check out an hour late.
Also given that I managed to spill a drink on a rug an hour before leaving - he was very understanding when I let him know!
Margate Old Town is quiet - we didn't really notice the noise from the brassiere downstairs from the apartment at all.
Very much enjoyed seeing a show at the Turner Contemporary. Great evening meal and cosy atmosphere at BeBeached on the Harbour Arm.
We also made a couple of meals at Sam's apartment too.
We had a lovely weekend stay at Sam's (email hidden)e location is perfect, right in the middle of the Market Place above a wonderful bistro (highly recommended, their food is amazing!) . The flat itself is great, massive main bedroom and very big second bedroom. Sam was a fab host, he left us some breakfast stuff in the kitchen and he provided a really comprehensive guide to the flat and the area. He is very good at responding to queries, often getting back to me within minutes of my asking. All in all, I would definitely book his flat again as it makes a good base to explore the area. Thank you, Sam!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sam's apartment, he has a wonderful home which is beautifully presented. We found the 'house notes' useful and recommendations spot on. Situated in the very heart of the old town it proved the perfect base to explore all aspects of Margate. Already planning a return visit.
We had a lovely few days eating and drinking our way around the Old Town and this was the perfect place to base ourselves. We were a party of 4, but the flat was more than large enough and didn't feel cramped, although a proper bed in the second room would've been preferred, but we knew this wasn't the case when we booked. It was spotless, tastefully decorated and we loved leafing through the hundreds of books during our stay. Extras like breakfast items and a fresh loaf of bread left for us to enjoy were a lovely touch. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a quiet, clean and relaxing place to stay in Margate.
Sam was a wonderful host, we (myself, husband and two 21 year old daughters) were made to feel extremely welcome and relaxed before even entering the flat courtesy of a strategically place post-it note! The place was spotless and brilliantly located. We were welcomed with breakfast supplies and another accommodating note with Margate top tips. This gem of a note included recommendations such as, taking a trip to Broadstairs and dining in "Osteria Posillipo" which we did. Not a single regret there! Unfortunately we discovered that a lot of Margate old town shuts on a Monday which is surprising especially in the month of August, however we weren't in despair for too long as we discovered the Shell Grotto which is a MUST, R.G. Scott furniture mart (a treasure trove) and the Lifeboat ale and cider pub for live music on a monday night. We were lucky enough to see the legendary drummer Doug Sides, awesome and amazing!
We had no problem with the wifi connection, compared to the rest of Margate it was lightning fast. The only real improvement to staying in this wonderful flat would be a decent shower but otherwise we had an enchanting stay in the home of a kindred artistic spirit with a view of the Turner sky.
Sam was an absent host but easy and fast to communicate with and left us a couple of strategically placed notes on arrival that made us smile.
His flat is charming with every window sill filled with plants. We were almost tempted to stay in and cook using his verdant crops of mint and basil but got lured by the ease of eating in the restaurant below which was excellent.
Margate is fun and this flat is in a perfect position in the centre of the old town and very close to the Turner.
Sam and his friends were very confortable guests. They did respect the home roules in every way and they left everything in a very tidy condition. I can recommend Sam, and of course his friends, to every other host!
They have been 2 friendly and kind guests. We have been glad to host them and to give them our suggestions during their stay. We hope to see them again!
