This was a great airbnb experience. The apartment was nicer than the photos and Gael provided clear instructions regarding how everything worked. We would love to stay here again next time we are Montreal and would not hesitate to recommend it.
We were in Montréal for cycling, and we needed a base camp... this was perfect.
The apartment was as described. It's the 2nd story of an older home that's sparkling clean and well equipped. (Hosts and previous guests appear to have collaborated to leave a wide selection of little things to get you started - everything from pasta and coffee in the cupboards to diapers and maxipads in the bathroom -- touches that anyone who's forgotten something important would appreciate on a first night!). Lots of bedding, etc, is provided. The wifi works well (though they do ask that you not do a lot of downloading; NP for us!).
It's got a lived in, relaxed, care-worn corners kind of feel. The floors creak, the main bed is excellent, and the sofa bed is about as good as sofa beds get (eg: you wouldn't voluntarily use it unless someone else had already claimed the main bed, but it works).
The 2nd story back porch that goes with the unit is wonderful -- the clear roof extends well around, keeping it dry even if there is pounding rain, and it makes the space feel light and glorious. Morning coffee on the porch was a treat.
As promised, Gael and family are not the sort who worry; we let ourselves in when we arrived, finally met them a couple of days in, and let ourselves out at the end -- this is sort of simplicity that you just can't get from anything other than AirBNB.
Montréal was also awesome; my advice is to come check it out, and stay somewhere nice while you do so :).
We would gladly stay with Gael & family again.
We loved our stay at Gael's apartment. My friend and I and our two young daughters stayed in this apartment for two nights and were very happy and comfortable throughout our stay.
The apartment was exactly as advertised and had a great welcoming feel. When first arriving you find the beautiful balcony, with lots of space and a great view. We were lucky to catch a colorful sunset while there as well.
Inside the kitchen is perfectly supplied for a short trip, which was a nice surprise, there was even coffee and a jar of baby food, among other things. Also the towels and blankets were great!
There are big windows in every room which was nice and also good air flow throughout. Even though we were visiting during very humid days it wasn't too hot in the apartment.
The neighborhood was quiet and a very good playground was just around the corner which was great since we had kids. And the city bus is so easy to get to the downtown area.
I really have no complaints about my stay at Gael's. I would recommend it to anyone!
Enjoyed my stay at Gael's property. It was perfect for a family with children. The area is great for getting around, good transportation links.
Gael and his family made me feel incredibly welcome. While I wasn't able to meet them until some time after I arrived, they made sure I could get into the apartment without any trouble. The apartment was clean, spacious, and had everything I needed to relax when I wasn't roaming the streets of the City of Saints.
When I was able to meet my hosts, they were both friendly and welcoming, letting me know I could join a party of friends and family my first night there. I wasn't able to join because of other plans, but I felt this was an exceptionally nice gesture.
The area I stayed in was about a 10 min walk from the nearest subway station and only a few minutes walk to a bus stop that takes you into Old Montreal. The neighborhood was quiet, with a few conveniently placed convenience stores for stocking up on a few pantry items.

Merci !
