We are a young family with two children. This time of year, you can find us working in our spacious gardens or adventuring in the woods.
I cannot say enough about this property and the hosts. My wife and I needed some R and R and thus booked with Raeanne over the busy holidays. The property is just outside the Village of Procter, which has all the necessities should you need to restock, but is also a mere 20 minutes from the beautiful town of Nelson.
The vistas were amazing our R and R was better than anticipated.
Defnitely check this place out!
Raeanne and Lloyd, our hosts, were so inviting. I think we were the third visitors to stay with them, so this was all new. That made it refreshing. We were welcomed with a loaf of homemade bread, jam, fresh eggs and raspberries. The setting is beautiful, overlooking their garden and the lake and mountains beyond. I found Proctor to be really special as a community. We visited the local farmer's market on Sunday which put us in touch with so many people, one of whom we'd love to stay in touch with. The place itself is in the eaves of a lovely workshop building, so be prepared for tight quarters. But the lawn and the facilities make up for that. Raeanne was so willing to introduce us to their garden and the chickens and most of all, for us to have met their lovely children. They are a hardworking young couple who are making their way and this is an opportunity to meet two who are giving back to the community. The facilities are clean and well organized, the kitchen was well equipped. There is wifi and tv for those so inclined.
This is a hidden gem in the Kootneys...and I'd highly recommend this lovely get-a-way in your exploration of the area. The photo's don't fully capture the beauty of the place...the large deck and stunning view of the lake and mountains is breathtaking. A large loaf of fresh, homemade bread welcomed us...along with homemade jam and fresh eggs from their chicken coup (so large and tasty - they sell them locally...so we bought an extra dozen to take with us). You can walk to the lake front from the house, but you need a car to access the area.
We were later than expected checking in, and Raeanne totally accommodated us with generosity. The place was very clean and altho some of the furniture is a bit dated, we immediately felt at home. The kitchen was well supplied - and their is internet available.
Raeanne and her family live behind the cabin in another house on the large property (several acres). No one lives below the unit....so it was very quiet. This is a lovely place to unwind....and enjoy being surrounding by dense woods on the sides....and a large sweeping lawn and garden in front of the spectacular view of lake. We stayed 3 nights...and wished we had booked longer. We will definitely return to Mossy Mountain!
