Just came here with my GF for a weekend city retreat. The cottage is very cute -- pics don't really do it justice. We were also surprised to see it well stocked with pans, utensils, plates, some books etc. The cottage is located behind her house. It's enclosed by trees/ plants so it certainly feels like you're in your own little country world. The grounds are beautiful - field, flowers, little nooks where you can sit and relax.
Mary was very welcoming - but you get your privacy/space. Would recommend. Thanks Mary!
amazing gardens. very dog friendly. great host. listing is v accurate. cabin amenities are primitive -- never got hot water in sink, v small cooking area. nice to be so close to shelburne falls.
Mary's place is exactly as advertised. Clean, quiet and set on the back part of her property with access to meadows, wooded hillsides and streams literally steps away. The cottage is perfect for a couple that wants to have quiet mornings and spend the day in quaint towns like Shelburne Falls or hiking the Mohawk Trail (each are about a 10min drive from the property).
Mary makes a point to acquaint her guests to the property and answer questions about local attractions and restaurants. All in all we had a pleasant and satisfying stay.
Mary was a great host: great communication and a lovely property. We (my partner and I) came late and left early so we didn't get to meet our host in person, but we had a great stay nonetheless! I wish we could have stayed longer! Thanks for everything!
We loved staying at this retreat. It was one of the most peaceful stays we've ever had and we really look forward to returning. The views are idyllic and the quietude was so welcome. It's hard to really find a place these days that embraces silence and allows that deep communion with nature and we certainly found it here. Deep joy and rest left us rejuvenated and determined to return.
I took my boyfriend here as a suprise getaway for his birthday. This was my first experience using AirBNB and I couldn't have had a better experience. The place was amazing as was Mary and her partner! Mary was very warm and welcoming and the cottage was even cuter in person than we imagined. The lofted bed had an incredible view of a large meadow and a barn off in the distance. It gets a nice breeze at night and my boyfriend and I realized that if we turned off all of the lights you also get a nice firefly show! The bathroom is not in the cottage but up a small path and it was clean and easy to get to. Their grounds are also really fun to walk around as there is a lot to see. They have a very picturesque garden with flowers and a bench. There is also a garden with veggies that we were welcomed to take vegetable from, and there is a frog pond and hammock. My boyfriend and I were suprised by how much there was to do in the area! We ended up going out to eat a lot in Greenfield and Shelbourn Falls (only 15-20 minutes away) and we did the kayak trip offered at CrabApple which is less than 10 minutes away. Overall this stay was a great experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend away, either with a loved one or for a solo trip. I'm so happy we chose this place!!
I had an absolutely wonderful time at Mary's cottage. The view from the lofted bed is so incredible. It is truly a retreat; a room with a view. It was so relaxing, sitting in the sun outside during the day and cozying it up in the cabin at night. It was warm during the day and nice and cool at night (the cabin also offers AC and heat if needed). I had absolute privacy, which was really nice. I felt completely alone, but was comforted to know that Mary was just a knock-of-the-door away. I can't wait to come back.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the cabin on Mary's property. I was there over Memorial Day weekend, and everything was so lush! The cabin is simple yet seemed to have everything I needed, including a cheese shaver, which I had meant to bring but forgot. The cabin affords one privacy, but is close enough for a walk to a backdoor bathroom in the main house. It boasts eight windows; the big window overlooks a large meadow on which I suspect I could write a book. The futon in the loft is up a steep climb on well-constructed steps and provided me with comfortable sleep. Mary's provided many places to sit or lay in the various gardens or at the small pond. And maps and area info and a sample of her writing to boot.
The surrounding area is charming, and I took a very long walk in the Daughters of the American Revolution State Forest, which is just down the road and has lakes and a fire tower. Shelburne Falls is quaint, has a coop, and a fancy-ish restaurant, as well as compelling-enough attractions. Driving around looking at various farms, homesteads, and small towns is an experience itself. If you're looking for quiet and a place to get away from it all, this might suit you perfectly.
A perfect retreat; the studio is private and well-stocked, with a million-dollar-view of a nearby meadow. Mary has taken great care to ensure her guests have everything they need. Highly recommended.
I highly recommend this cabin. It is clean, has huge windows that let in lots of natural light, and is surrounded by beautiful woods. Though I only spent one night here, it seems like a week here would be a re-energizing treat. Mary's sheet of directions in the cabin were thorough and clear, so I felt well taken care of and also had a nice amount of privacy.
It was nice to have Mary stay at my place.
Mary was very nice when I met her and left the space clean. I wished she was able to communicate some of the issues she had with the apartment with me during her and not on the review... It would have been a very fast fix. But lovely guest.
