This is a spectacularly beautiful spot with wonderfully gracious hosts. If you're visiting Lebanon and want to escape the bustle of Beirut, the mountain village of Shimlan is a stunning retreat, and this house is situated perfectly to take advantage of panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains, cool breezes, and beautiful flora.
The house has a lovely garden, a rooftop terrace, and balconies on two floors. The interior is very tastefully decorated, clean, and comfortable. We had hot water available whenever we needed it, a market just up the road for groceries, an excellent restaurant 100 meters away, a fast internet connection, TV/DVD, board games, and a small library of books to choose from. When we visited, there were figs and grapes ripening outside our windows, and flowers everywhere.
Our hosts could not have been more welcoming. The kitchen was well-stocked with food and drink when we arrived, and we very much enjoyed getting to know Jane and Anis.
This was my first experience with Air B&B, and I look forward to visiting this lovely spot again in the near future.
Wow. Not at all what we expected. An amazing location, safe for kids to play outside at any time day / night, quite with an outstanding view of the coast and within short distance of anywhere. Lots of walks around the house with amazing landscapes and fields of vegetation and flowers to enjoy and places to picnic. In the evening, you can enjoy the rooftop silence (yes, there is an amazing rooftop for quite evenings or for Jane's paddling pool), overseeing the Lebanese coast and the airport runway (minus the noise) so if you're planning to go, make sure you pack your binoculars.
Comfortable interior with all necessities, round the clock hot water and you wouldn't worry about power supply.
Jane and Captain Anis are super hosts, made us and the children feel at home from day 1 and looked after the children's new found kitten. Jane makes great brownies and will make sure that you have what it takes to make your holiday perfect.
We recommend Jane's home to anyone who is looking for a relaxed, safe and comfortable holiday that can be easily blended with lots of fun
Jane was the most excellent host. The house was superb. Very clean, modern and we had water, electricity and wifi 24/7 despite the lack of these things in Lebanese Mountains. Jane also made the experience so much better. She was very kind, helpful and welcoming to my family and I. The views and location of the house are second to none. I strongly recommend this home to anyone interested and with Jane being your neighbour it will make your experience that much better. Thank you again Jane for a wonderful experience and your warm hospitality.
Jane is a great host and is extremely welcoming and thoughtful. She had very kindly stocked the fridge with things we might need and the studio is well equipped. Everywhere in Lebanon suffers from power shortages (up to 12 hours a day outside Beirut is normal) but fortunately this studio is equipped with UPS and back up generator so power can always be arranged. The outside patio area is fantastic with a terrific view over Beirut and Shimlane is quiet and really charming. Downtown Beirut is only a 30 minute drive away, but it was so nice to be able to leave the heat, humidity and noise behind and head up to the mountains. The studio is part of a beautifully restored traditional Lebanese stone house and we loved being able to stay and explore a different part of Lebanon. The studio is really good value for money and Jane and her husband went out of their way to help make it a really enjoyable stay.

WOW, look no further, beautiful hidden gem in the Lebanese mountains. This place by far exceeded my expectation in every aspect; from the stunning panoramic views to the interior décor and cleanliness, AND a bonus!, well stocked kitchen with your basic food, drinks, and condiment needs. Jane is generous host and friendly neighbor, thank you for that welcoming experience.
We had a wonderful stay at Jane's house. This is a perfect getaway from Beirut crazyness to enjoy the calm of mount lebanon and the amazing view from the rooftop.
The place has been very recently beautifully renovated with a special attention to details.
Finally, Jane is the nicest host, she made sure to make her stay went perfectly well.
Highly recommanded !
A lovely couple . Very friendly and social with good sense of homour. I enjoyed their company very much. One day I hope to visit them in Lebanon.
