Amalias place and herself were great. We only had one night there before we continued our journey to the lake, but we had a great stay.
The room (no. 3) was great and clean, bed comfortable and bathroom great as well. Kitchen was one of the best ones we had in Central-/ South America. And we are able to stay till our shuttle picks us up at 2pm. Very recommendable. Don't spend any more on a hostel or hotel. Not worth it!!!
This was our second stay with the lovely Amalia and it was delightful as usual. She is so gracious and allowed us to safely store our bags with her when we arrived early and left late. Not only is her home very beautifully appointed but she has thought of everything you might need for your stay. She provides you with drinking water, all the fixings for a great breakfast, a place to lock your valuables, soap, shampoo...even loofah sponges! We were just so comfortable here. If we ever return to Antigua we will head straight for Amalia's place.
Muchas gracias :)
amalia is a very nice person.
We felt immediately like at home.
The house is well kept and clean.
The breakfast has many options and delicious.
We decided to come back.
Charming little cocoon in Antigua.

Amalia's place was exactly what I was looking for and she was a fantastic hostess. The location was close to everything, the other guests were friendly, diverse, and interesting. Amalia keeps the entire home very clean, offers her time, and goes the extra mile to ensure that you feel at home. I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling through Antigua or staying a long time.
See our previous review for this place, it includes the second stay of one night.
This is a wonderful house , it all perfectly. Amalia very hospitable . We lived in room 3 , it is small, but comfortable and warm, which is rare in Antigua . All pictures are true. I liked that Amalia prepared for tourists and has good information about the sights. Thank you for the hospitality
We had 2 separate stays at this listing and both were great. Amalia was so helpful, recommending 2 excellent restaurants and being helpful with any questions we had. The location is close to most things walking and is private and quiet as well. The room (#2) is small, but adequate and the on suite bath was very nice. We left for a couple days and came back for your last night. We will be back when next we are in Antigua.
Thank you for a pleasant stay in your lovely residence. Amalia is very nice and helpful person . She took care of us every day. I would recommend staying at the Amalia house :)
Amalia was a fantastic hostess who put up with me for ten days as I wandered around Guatemala and nearby countries. The room was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described in the listing. I would definitely recommend staying here, mainly because it is a safe neighborhood within easy walking distance to everything you might be interested in doing. Amalia provided a useful map of her area, including most of central Antigua, helpfully marked with all the places you might want to locate (ATMs, good restaurants, etc.) Antigua, from what I could discover, is the best town to stay at in Guatemala, and in my opinion Amalia's place is the ideal accommodation there.
My boyfriend and I lived at Amalia's house for 2-3 months. We loved our time with her and her family and would definitely return. The rooms are lovely and have storage space, the house is immaculate and well presented, and Amalia is very open, welcoming and willing to help you out wherever she can. The house is a short walk to the centre of town, and a 3 minute walk to the market, so location is great. You will struggle to find a better deal in Antigua than this!
Amalia has been my Spanish teacher for the past year and a half and she is so much fun to work with. I am planning a trip to Guatemala this coming year and am hoping Amalia will have space in her house so I can stay with her! She is very helpful, easy to talk to, and knows a lot about the area she lives in. I think everyone would have an enjoyable experience staying with Amalia.
I took Spanish lessons with Amalia on-line for several months after a visit to Antigua. Based on my experience of her, if I were going there again, I would certainly want to stay with her, meet her family, and get to know Antigua better.
My wife and I rented a room from Amalia and I must say that it was the most pleasurable accommodations we had for our entire trip. Amalia and her family were very friendly. Throughout our stay they were willing to chat with us while always respecting our privacy. The house is very clean and lovely with great views of Volcan Agua. The location is close to the market and not too far from the town center. Should we return to Antigua we will look no further than here for lodging.
I know Amalia from the pass 3 years cause I rent a room at her house in Antigua Guatemala with my wife and my little boy! We could'nt found a better place, those peoples are so great, simple to leave with and they have a beautiful hart! The room was clean and the location is great, not too close from the center so its quiet and peaceful! This old town worth a visit and its super "agreable" ! For now on, we keep a nice friendship with this family and I can say that Amalia is a great friend of mine!!
Amalia has been my Spanish teacher for the past couple years! I would highly recommend a stay with her and her family. She is incredibly nice, very easy to deal with, accommodating and would be a great host for anyone visiting Guatemala.
