It was a bliss for us to stay at Marie's beautiful house. The cottage, the yard, and the dining room - everything was idyllic, peaceful, clean, and full of French charm and culture. Marie and her husband were so warm and kind, and even went out of their way to help us enjoy our first vacation in Provence. We are very thankful to Marie as our perfect host, and realize that such wonderful people still make France so sweet.
Out of the places that we chose to stay in during our visit to the South of France, this has got to be our favourite...if not our favourite stay on any holiday!
The B&B is located in a small but quaint town not far from Avignon, there's not much to do in the area but if the primary reason for your stay is to relax, this is the place for you!
The grounds of the property are stunning. The open garden has so many little spots to pick from for you to enjoy in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. Oh and the pool is the perfect temperature!
Our room (the cheaper option) was beautiful and the bedding was soft and comfortable. The breakfasts, although continental, were fabulous with a choice of fresh breads, jams and even a perfectly soft boiled egg, yum!
I have got to say though that the best thing about our stay was all the little things, far too many to list. If you stay you will see for yourself. Francois and Marie could not have been more hospitable, I can't recommend this place enough!
Our stay at Mas de Bassette was unforgettable. Not only was it the perfect location from which to explore surrounding villages and sights, but a destination all on it’s own. The farm house and gardens are awe-inspiring, truly picturesque.
Marie and her husband were the most gracious hosts. They opened their home and heart to us. We felt like special guests of the family and never wanted to leave.
Marie has perfectly executed every detail, from the elegantly presented and delicious breakfast to the exquisite decorating of the house and the garden. If you’ve been searching for the perfect place to experience Provence, look no further, Mas de Bassette is the perfect retreat.
Response from Marie:

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Mas de Bassette. It was well located for us to use as a base for our explorations of the delights of Provence: L'Isle-sur-la-Sorge, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, Gordes, Oranges, Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The estate is lovely with incredible attention to detail inside and out. There are many artistic elements to delight the senses. The rooms were spacious, private and clean. We enjoyed the restaurants Marie recommended, places we would not have discovered on our own. Breakfast, although casual, was set out on silver serving pieces, an elegant touch. We would definitely consider returning or recommending this quiet retreat to our friends and family.
Our stay at the Mas de Bassett marked our first ever stay at a B&B and the true highlight of our two and half week long trip in France. Simply put, Marie and Francois could not be more lovely, hospitable, classy and informed hosts. Their home and style is contemporary yet rooted in traditions of Provence and the accommodations and bedroom was first rate. The estate itself is gorgeous with innumerable thoughtful touch points to make your stay comfortable. This country farm house is an unbelievable value. A plus for dog lovers is their sweet doberman named Charluce that really thinks he is lap dog. Marie recommended sites and restaurants that made our stay even more memorable. And the breakfasts...imagine waking up to a perfect soft boiled egg, perfect croissants, juice, preserves, etc. Beautiful home, wonderful people, outstanding, world class accommodations — highly recommended. We cannot wait to go back!
Marie was a wonderful host, full of information about local restaurants (and not so local, we made day trips to Marseille, Aix en Provenance, and Avignon.) The house, pool, and yard are fantastic - we enjoyed wine under the stars one night but spent most of our time exploring the area. The breakfast was outstanding as well - would definitely come back to stay again. Truly a tranquil oasis.
