I am from the Jersey Shore originally. I live and work in New Orleans. I am a bar manager at a popular bar in the heart of the French quarter. I like movies and watching tv as well as traveling as much as I can.

Everything was great!
Host was great, friendly, very attentive and reachable during our stay. Neighborhood was great. We hit that darn cold spell, but a little creative engineering to block off the open kitchen doorway with a sheet kept the rooms we used the most warm enough to be comfortable. All and all, it was wonderful to have our own private house and it was comfortable.
Had a nice time staying here. Pretty good location close to the streetcar. Quiet area at night. The apartment is a little old and it shows but its also very big and Kelly left if fully stocked with drinks and basic food. Even though it was chilly (got down into the mid to upper 40s at night) when we were there the apartment was nice and warm. Would recommend.
Another good visit to Kelly's Shotgun apartment. The location was great - in a quiet neighborhood in the Uptown area with easy free street parking. Met a few neighbors and they were super friendly folks. Accessible to public transportation - streetcar/bus to get you downtown easily. Spacious apartment, full kitchen, good wifi - fit our needs for the week as a couple visiting our son at college. Kelly is responsive to questions very quickly as well.
The shotgun was great and very large. Close to shops and the street car. There was a huge tv and plenty of tea/coffee/what have you. It felt very home-y.
Unfortunately New Orleans was having an unseasonably intense cold snap while we were there, and we decided to leave a day early because the apartment was frigid (I think this is a feature of all housing here - most homes don't need much insulation due to the heat for most of the year.) I do have to say that Kelly gave us plenty of blankets and heaters. Sadly the weather was just too much for us!
Unfortunately, though the host did agree to refund a full night (as opposed to the 50% I would have gotten had I cancelled directly through airbnb), I have yet to receive the check. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and hope I see a check in the mail soon, but it still left a sour taste in my mouth. I guess it is a life lesson to do everything by the book in the future.
That said, in every other respect he was very attentive and the apartment itself was nice. Anyone staying here will have a good base to see the city from!
I apologies for the delay. I will get you the check for the 50% refund as soon as I get back into town.
We have stayed in New Orleans through Airbnb listings twice before this and have always been very happy with our experiences. There were a few things that made this house a little less comfortable than other places we've stayed. First off, through no real fault on Kelly's part, the house is not ideal for staying in when the weather is very cold. We happened to be there during a cold snap when it got down below freezing at night. The heating system in the house was inadequate in this kind of cold and while there were two space heaters, even having them on full-blast in the bedroom was not enough to ward off the frigid drafts (there's no doors between the bedroom and the kitchen, and the back and side doors were very drafty). Kelly was a very hands-off host and since we were traveling with a toddler we didn't make it to the bar to meet him. He was reachable by phone in advance of our arrival, but was not particularly communicative via the airbnb messaging system. The neighborhood is great, the house is well-kept and clean. Overall it's a good bargain and puts you in a great location. I wouldn't recommend it for people traveling with young kids because there are some elements (like an open tiled stairway and a glass dining room table) that are a bit hazardous for kiddos. Would be fine for a single person or couples traveling in warmer weather.
The place was great and very convenient with shops all around. We had everything we needed.
Kelly was incredibly responsive and very easy to deal with. The Uptown location was fantastic and really great to have a hideaway from the craziness of downtown. The apartment itself is a little older, but cozy and provided all we needed. The bathroom wasn't great but sufficient enough for our stay. Given the comparable price, the pet friendliness and the great neighborhood, I would recommend staying here.
He made us feel welcome by having beer in the frig. It was well located in a good neighborhood.
Kelly was a great communicator and his cute apartment was very comfortable and accurate in its description - very convenient and on a safe and quiet street.
Kelly and his dad Tim were a delight to host felt so at ease in their company sharing stories and having a laugh , would have no problem in recommending them to future hosts
Kelly is a sound guest. Respectfull and clean . I didn't spend to much time with Kelly but from the short conversation we had he seems friendly and up for a laugh too. I would gladly host him again .
It was a great pleasure to have Kelly and his friend Jose staying in casa caribe. Kelly is a very cool guy, polite, and clean person, he took good care of the place and seems that he had a nice time enjoying Puerto Viejo. For sure I will recommend Kelly to anyone and I will be happy to receive him at any time. Thank you, Yanira
