Geoff and Lydia were gracious hosts. The upstairs bedrooms are clean and simple, as pictured and the house is cozy and lived in. While the house is comfortably proximate to the mall/downtown area, the neighborhood is a mix of modest residential and light industrial/commercial.
We loved the place and people. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Lydia was very welcoming and accommodating. We arrived when her and her husband were out and she left a key for us so we could check in at our convenience. The bedroom was spacious and we had the top level to ourselves. Their library collection is pretty cool too!
Overall, we had a really good stay. Their dogs were adorable and honestly made us want to stay longer.
My family and had a wonderful experience, the house is located close to UVa and is within walking distance of the downtown. The owners made us feel welcome and the rooms were comfortable.
We were not here very long but we had a pleasant stay. Our bed was comfortable and we liked the private upstairs. Close to downtown, I would say a nice bikable (is that a word?) distance if you have bikes, or a long walk if you have the time. They do not serve breakfast, but Bodo's Bagels is very close and a perfect morning option. We had our dogs with us, and their dog Pepper is very friendly.
We had a wonderful stay! This was our first time using airbnb and it was exactly what we were looking for. We could not have asked for better hosts. We would definitely stay here again. Much thanks to Lydia!
The home is conveniently located and very charming! Lydia was easy to get in touch with and responded quickly to questions. I would stay here again when I visit Charlottesville! Thank you for being such great hosts and opening your home to guests.
Lydia was a wonderful host. She was very inviting when we arrived. The room was just as described, and the home was lovely.
This was our first airbnb experience--It was exactly what we were looking for: our own bedroom and bathroom but with access to a fully equipped kitchen. The hosts, Lydia and Geoff, were easy to communicate with (before we arrived and during our stay), they were very welcoming and it just felt......... comfortable. We had intentionally picked a location within walking distance to the Pedestrian Mall, downtown, the UVA campus and the UVA Medical Center. We had a blast exploring Charlottesville during our 5 days/nights and a big part of our experience was getting to know Lydia and Geoff and feeling completely comfortable and welcomed in their home. This airbnb offers 2 rooms upstairs (each a double) with one shared bathroom-- we were happy that the other room was not being rented out because it allowed us open access to the bathroom (the hosts' bedroom/bath is downstairs) which we really appreciated. The bed was super comfortable, the bedding, furnishings and accents were thoughtful, deliberate and very clean. The neighborhood seems to be "up and coming", there was easy to find on street parking, there were kids playing in the street and people sitting on their porches who often said hello to us as we walked by. If we were to do it all over again, we would. In a heartbeat.
Lydia was a pleasure to host! She was very respectful, and so neat that after she left, I couldn't even tell anyone had even been there. I would recommend her to any airbnb host!
Lydia and Geoff are extremely warm, sociable, and interesting people. They are fantastic hosts and really know how to make a guest's experience relaxing and special. They would be great for a single traveler or a whole family.
Their house is a wonderful, renovated space with a huge, gorgeous fenced-in backyard. The kitchen is a dream with everything you might need. The upstairs bedrooms and bathroom are the only rooms upstairs so you really enjoy the privacy of your own space. It's truly an airy, charming house with tons of character. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom is cute and remodelled (with good temperature and water pressure). The location is in a friendly neighborhood that's equally close to UVA and downtown. It's about a 15 min walk to the heart of UVA and 10 min to the downtown mall. There's a great neighborhood grocery store, yummy restaurants, and some cute shops nearby.
Pepper is a well-trained, super sweet dog who is great for playing with but also good at respecting space. He is super fluffy. Be careful, you may not be able to resist snuggling him.
I stayed in their house as a renter initially for a short-term stay and ended up staying for a year. It was a truly wonderful experience that I still remember fondly. Grill-outs, bike rides, cooking from the garden, playing fetch in the yard, and so many good memories keep me wanting to come back.
