Steve and his family were great hosts. They accommodated our funky schedule do to a wedding gracefully. Would highly recommend.
Excellent Host. Very friendly, nice family, in a beautiful location. Also very professional.
Steve's house is in a beautiful part of California, surrounded by vineyards and orchards on all sides. Steve was a great host: he was flexible with our arrival time and gave us recommendations on places to go in the area. The house was quiet and clean and I'm glad we chose it as the place to spend a weekend.
A beautiful place to get some rest.
Wonderful Family! Great location on a small farm. Steve provided me with more than all the bare essentials. They even gave me a jar of jam that they made from scratch, which I had the following morning with their homemade bread. I only wish I could've stayed longer! ....next time! Thank you for a dream stay in Napa!
The Decker house was exactly the escape we needed! Beautiful scenery, trees filled with figs and apples for the taking, and a friendly, inviting family to answer our questions (even giving restaurant recommendations). We enjoyed using the house as a home base as we drove to Napa, Sonoma, Muir Woods, San Francisco and Sacramento.
I'm sorry but I have to say I was extremely disappointed with our experience here. Steve was very flexible with us on check in time and it's a good thing b/c it was a 45 min drive, on dark, winding, unfamiliar roads with spotty gps signals. When we finally found it, the house was a complete mess. Our room was truly what we paid for but the breakfast mentioned was nothing; nothing offered but a cup of coffee on one day, nada the next. Our gift basket for booking 2 nights was literally one jar of jam. We never were even showed where the pool was and every time we saw Steve, he was roaming the house in his bathrobe. The bath for our use was downstairs, and he is on his computer, outside the door, if and when you see him, and the bathroom sink hadn't even been cleaned. I was provided little information prior to our arrival about bike tours that he listed as a a base camp. When I asked him, he emailed me that he didn't know any tour companies. If you are looking for something near Napa, look elsewhere. almost an hour drive.
Fantastic location and host! The walnut tree really is a few centuries old, and there is fresh fruit on the trees nearby. This little corner of wine country is serene.
We recommend Steve's place to anybody wishing to stay in a quiet part of the wine country, close to local wineries and the larger ones of Napa at the same time.
Steve is very helpful in providing prior information and directions, and makes sure that everything goes well during the stay.
Steve and his wife were great hosts. Steve was even gracious enough to allow me to have something shipped to the house in advance of my arrival. The guest bedroom is also the home office space, so the furnishings are minimal, but bed is comfortable and the room gets lots of natural light. The guest bathroom is located downstairs on the main level. The nice surprise of this place was all the fruit out in the front yard that guests could (email hidden)ums, figs, apples, and pears. Although the house is a somewhat off the main drag, it's a very quiet area and easy enough to navigate wine country from here.
Steve is a fantastic man and a great friend. He's got a great sense of humor and very dry wit. His home is clean and the man can COOK. I mean, really cook. He took gumbo lessons. Seriously. Gumbo lessons. He also has an encyclopedic knowlege that covers everything from brain synapses to car upholestery. It's worth staying here just to talk to him. And if you can coerce him to make you some of his amazing sorbet, well, that's worth an extra $100.
