The inn was great for a Sunday night stay in Montauk. Location is good, away from the main street in town, but it's a short walk to a small quiet beach and Gosman's Dock. It's across from a marina and doesn't have a view of the beach. Parking was plentiful and there was a pool but we did not use it and walked to the beach instead. We got a room upstairs, which was clean and well-lit, though there were no windows to open for a breeze, but you could open both doors on either end to get some circulation. It wasn't hot out that day but the room had A/C if we had wanted it. Ask for the wifi password at the front desk, but TV didn't work but I didn't feel like walking down to the front desk to ask about it. Jacuzzi tub was nice to see in the room, but we didn't use it and it was a little hard to step into it bcz I'm short!
Anya, the lady at the front desk/reception, was lovely and welcoming. She gave us all the info we needed and made great recommendations. My friend was feeling a bit unwell in the morning and so I asked if we could have a later checkout and she said it was totally fine, not to worry and to take our time.
Very clean, nice and hospitable. The rooms are large and have great AC. The inn is near the docks and about a 5-10 minute drive to the beaches. I will be back.
The Tipperary Inn was a great choice. The place is simple, but the rooms have been renovated recently and are really nice. It's a little off the beaten path (a good thing!) but still in walking distance to bars and restaurants and the sound. The pool looked clean and inviting but it was too chilly outside to enjoy. The service was also really nice. Onya is pretty fantastic. Highly recommend!
Great location, walking distance to beach, restaurants and shopping. The hosts were extremely friendly and the inn was a peaceful getaway. A few of disappointments though: the pictures on this site show a remodeled room. Ours had old carpet, old sink, toilet, bathtub, etc. Our room didn't have a kitchenette and the balcony was shared with the guest room next to us (a rowdy crowd). The door leading to balcony didn't have curtains for privacy so we had to drape bed sheets over the door. Also, the linens and pillows were covered with hair from the previous guests.. disgusting to say the least. :( The pool was also empty so we weren't able to enjoy it Memorial Day weekend 2012. I understand the inn is going through renovations but for $200 a night I would at least want the right expectation as to what we're getting for our money. Again, the hosts were lovely and we would consider going back AFTER renovations are done, pool is filled, and with cheaper rates.
I just took a short trip to the Tipperary inn the past weekend, and I've had a pleasant stay! I was initially attracted to the low rate of the room, considering it being right by Montauk Point. The host was very kind and made sure my boyfriend and I felt welcomed and at home. He had also given us the one room apartment style, which was spacious for just the two of us, and it was clear that the room had been recently renovated--the furniture and the whole place was very clean! Being new in town, he recommended us restaurants to go to, and kindly suggested we go see the lighthouse, giving us the directions. My boyfriend and I both decided we're definitely going back! The location, room condition, and people were all truly splendid! (:
Besides the fact that we did not actually get the apartment we have reserved for, the stay was comfortable. We were never told the reason why we couldn't get the two bedroom apartment. Therefore we had to stay in separate rooms instead of two bedroom as we have originally planned.
The staff were friendly though. Since the one bedroom apartment was not equipped with the dishes, plates or any sort of utensils, we had to ask for them which they provided for us.
Check in is @ 2:00 and Check out is @ 11:00
Very unfriendly host. Could not have cared less about our custom. The actual place was fine and affordable, however.
Elena is a wonderful person--We so enjoyed meeting and talking with her when she booked our Hollywood Cottage for a few days. We would welcome her back anytime. My Highest Recommendation!
