I'm originally from New Zealand, but I've been living in the USA, UK and Norway since 1997, working in internet technology as an engineer and product manager.
I love travelling, and get a real boost from visiting new places, seeing new cultures, or even finding new neighbourhoods to check out. So far the favourite city I've visited is Siena in Tuscany, the combination of the layout, the people, the surrounds, and the fantastic architecture was stunning. However I've had great times visiting places across Europe, Asia and South Africa (I still have to see more of Africa!).
I tend to travel pretty light although I haven't been doing any hardcore backpacking for a while (not since travelling through South America). I like to be low-impact on the places I'm staying, especially when sleeping on a friend's sofa, although I like to hang out with the people I stay with when possible.
As a host I'm pretty tolerant, I had a friend stay on my sofa for a few months, and as a Kiwi I expect to have visitors passing through at any time - it's the code!
