This cabin was remote feeling, while only being a short drive into downtown Burlington. Shanta and Ian were easily accessible by text and checked in with us to make sure we didn't need anything additional. Four of us stayed quite comfortably, with two on the futon. Now our favorite part- THE VIEW! We left the massive sliding doors open and just enjoyed the cool breeze off the lake. It was overall a very happy surprise and we would recommend it to anyone traveling in the area. Our only regret with such a sterling review is that we don't want it to be booked up the next time we visit!
Ian was very nice, and allowed us to check out late in part because the cabin was not ready for us when we arrived to check in. The cabin is very much secluded, with a great view of Lake Champlain. We chose it because it was close to the bike path (only a mile) but only a ten minute ride by car to the center of Burlington. We do suggest a few things that would make the stay more comfortable for guests. The cabin is in the middle of woods, with tons of mosquitoes. Yet, there was no fly swatter available and we resorted to using a towel to kill mosquitoes. Guests should bring bug repellent; perhaps Ian could have some available. Also, the cabin is nicely located, but can be very hot, given that there is no cross breeze. We suggest Ian provide a fan for guests, which would make it so much more comfortable on hot nights. The location is so beautiful that we would suggest that cutting the grass near the cabin and perhaps cutting some of the branches near the deck would open up the view even more.
Overall our stay at Ian's cabin was great. The views from the large sliding doors are amazing. The cabin was cleanly and spacious enough for 2 people and it is only a short drive to the center of town or other outdoor destinations. The only issue is that those large sliding doors overlooking the lake leak heavily when it rains. It poured rain on the night we arrived and made for a tough first night with the dripping, which is why I rate this at only 4 stars. Other than that the stay was pleasant.

So sorry for your troubles Dan and thank you so much for your patience and this feedback! We have our contractor heading out there this weekend to patch the roof and stop the leak.
Loved this place. Very, very quiet cabin just outside of Burlington. Wish I had brought a kayak with me - right on Lake Champlain and such a beautiful view out the extra large sliding doors with windows. The cabin is pretty basic but just my style and the shower is as warm as you like, my one weakness for comfort. Plan to visit again and will certainly stay here if possible.
Ian Bleakney was very easy to communicate with and described his lakefront cabin perfectly. The location was perfect, within minutes of downtown Burlington but totally secluded and right on the lake, with a beautiful view of Camel's Hump mountain in the distance. We very much enjoyed our stay.
This little cabin at the tip of Appletree Point is downright magical. The majesty of Lake Champlain pours through the glass sliding doors at all hours and through all moods. The beach just under the cabin is made of some kind of beautiful delicate stone. We sometimes made our way down there to get closer glimpses of the water. In the mornings we drank our coffee and sunbathed on the wooden ledge facing the lake. During the day, we would often explore Burlington or nearby attractions. Towards evening we would retreat back to the cabin, enjoying the views with a glass of wine. The hosts were also wonderful and responsive. If you are looking for a quiet, secluded place from which to enjoy nature that is not far from civilization, this is it. And if you're thinking of two nights, book three!
I spent a weekend in Ian's cottage with a few friends, and we can't stop raving about our experience. Not only was Ian prompt and helpful in his communications preceding our actual trip, but his place was private, well-maintained, and picturesque. Being able to explore Burlington with ease and then retreat back to wonderful views of Lake Champlain (at a bargain price) makes this place a real gem. Everyone had nothing but compliments for the cottage--which is sunny, airy, and clean--and I know we'll be making another journey back to Burlington (and Ian's cabin) before too long!

Thanks so much for your feedback Lindsay - I will speak to our cleaner about this.
A perfect little cabin with an amazing view! It was really nice to stay somewhere so peaceful and serene while being so close to town. Two thumbs up!
Wow! What a picturesque view of Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains that encompass it...and all from the comfort of your bed! We had a wonderful time at this cabin and found it to be just what we were looking for as a long weekend getaway. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was surprisingly more spacious than we expected. Everything was clean and well taken care of. We had to reach out to Ian only once and he was immediately accommodating! Would definitely book again!
The location of this cabin is amazing! We felt totally secluded with our own private view of the lake - such a lovely place to stay for a week! The facilities are basic, but provide everything you need for a great holiday, with nice little extra touches too. Ian even gave us advice on outdoor activities in the local area which made our trip even better. Fantastic location and a lovely little cabin away from it all!
