Overall: We had an amazing experience in the house in Tournon d’Agenes, something we will take with us for the rest our life. We recommend this to anyone who plans a vacation in south-west France, or wants a quiet place to write/work or rest in (we stayed in the house for 1 month and combined vacation/work/travel).
The house: very beautiful and special, recently renovated with great taste, attention to details, and high quality, with original elements from the 13th century, beautiful furniture from the far-east, and everything you need for a perfect long or short term stay. It was perfectly ready for our arrival down to the small details, towels and clean sheets, fully equipped kitchen that we enjoyed very much, cleaning detergents and really everything we could imagine. It was very clean and welcoming. Mostly the view from the windows (and the village in general) is amazing. The Panorama in this village is the main attraction in the whole area really, the air is clean and the sunrises here are strong rare phenomena. Wi-Fi internet is fast and stable. Description in the site is detailed and accurate.
The village and location: the area is beautiful, green, scattered with local medieval villages and farms, quiet and not over-touristic. The village is friendly, my wife stayed here on her own for some of our stay, and felt welcomed and safe, with a local shop, bakery, and a great butcher within a walking distance, colorful local markets and very big and modern supermarket only 10min drive away. The area is interesting for travel, with many attractions (Castles & Churches, Medieval villages, Markets, Rivers, Nature) and city escapes (Toulouse/Bordeaux) within a short travel distance.
The host: Raphael and Yuan-Yuan were very responsive, friendly and kind, provided us with all the information we needed, by mail and in a really very detailed manual for the house and information about the area. We got stuck out of the house one day (our fault), and our local host was here to help us in 10min with an extra key. We had a small problem in the house (due to rare extreme rain), and Raphael was there within hours, fixed the problem perfectly and left us a generous gift.
The bad: Nothing important. But here are small things that you may want to consider: the photos on airbnb are not as beautiful as the house is in real life (really hard to catch the charm of the place and the view here). While the house and location were perfect for our needs, they may not be right for all (obviously) – there are more touristic locations in France (e.g. the 1h drive Dordogne area) and the house is in an old village so has no pool/garden for example (some vacationers want that).
Quiet neighbourhood. While it's true that we need to climb the steps (less than 100-step), after you are used to that, this place is actually in a good location. I didn't get a chance to talk to Raphael and his wife much but they seemed nice. La prochaine fois! :)
Raphael and his wife were marvellous hosts. We had a real good time at their place. The room is clean and you have your own privacy in the house, with easy access and your own bathroom. The house is situated in a nice, quiet area with very good access to the metro. It is very convenient, when you are visiting the Pacifico for a congress as we did.
Raphael and his wife were very helpful and friendly and it was lovely meeting them and having a good talk about the culture and their experiences with living in a foreign country. Highly recommended.
Raphael and Yuanyuan are wonderful hosts...from the very moment we arrived (directions spot on!) Raphael and Yuanyuan made us feel very welcome.
The area is stunning with easy walking to -incredible food, shopping, china town and the harbour. The room provided is huge for Japanese standards with a private downstairs bathroom.
We enjoyed our stay so much so that we would come to Yokohama again just to visit Raphael and Yuanyuan.
Raphael and his beautiful wife were very gracious, despite our late arrival. Taking advantage of Japan's exceptional bullet trains, we had gone to visit an area by the Sea of Japan. Luckily the Shinkanzen trains are fast and on time. Moreover, after arriving back in Tokyo, when we got lost, we experienced the kindness of the Japanese people, who tried to direct us and telephoned our Airbnb host. Raphael was waiting outside, to meet our taxi and help with our cases. This welcome was very appreciated, for a tired couple in an unfamiliar land.
Our host's Yokohama house is in a beautiful neighborhood, with cool breezes and gorgeous views. My wife and I had a large room and "typical Japanese experience" including tatame mats, bathing room and multi-function camode. We had 3 days to explore the city, upscale shopping, large Chinatown (yes, you heard right... A festive Chinatown within a major Japanese city), its port, parks and warehouses.
Our hosts spent time socializing with us and we learned about them, their native France & China, as well as our mutual AirBnB experiences. We highly recommend staying at this location and thank them for their generosity. In fact, Raphael was so kind, he even drove
us to our ship on his day off, for early boarding our trans-Pacific cruise.
We really enjoyed our stay at Raphael and yuanyuan 's house. They are very friendly and welcoming host. thanks to their advice we discover a very good onset in front of the Fuji montain. their house is very clean, quiet and our room were very spacious and clean. And the futon bed was incredibly comfortable !
We highly recommended this place in Yokohama !
The reservation was canceled 90 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Motomachi area is really charming and is an interesting spot itself. Raphael and Yuanyuan were a beautiful couple! They were helpful all throughout our stay. Yuanyuan told us to see the Bluff area which had nice houses with cherry trees in full bloom. She also told us how to get to nearby Pier and yamashita park. Place is clean and tidy and the room size was really decent and so unlike the small hotel rooms where we stayed in jp. It was near the station and was absolutely easy to find even if we arrived late in the evening. We were also lucky enough to get a view of Mt. Fuji from the house. My first time to book with airbnb and it was an interesting experience.
They are eco-minded guests and left nothing behind to clean up. They casually and naturally took out slippers to wear when they arrived. Nice idea, to stay for Airbnb.
Though we didn't have much to meet, Rapahel was an awesome guest. He booked the room well in advance and kept in good contact. He left the room in great condition. I recommend him to all the hosts of Airbnb!
