We visited Deani's cottage for our honeymoon and had a great time. The cottage is a quick drive from the coast, and the central location on the east side allowed us to easily hit the north shore one day and the south the next. The property is well maintained and in a nice neighborhood.
Deani is a wonderful and knowledgeable host and was able to provide some tips for restaurants and activities to help us further enjoy our stay on the island. The cottage was super clean and comfortable. There was even some fresh baked banana bread in a welcome basket!
Overall I would definately recommed Deani's cottage if you are headed to Kauai. 10/10!
The private cottage was perfect for our trip. It is a beautiful place with a very comfortable bed, nice living area, and kitchen. It was our romantic base for our island trip where we would sip coffee in the morning out back and come back after our days adventure. It was great to have alone time and not be surrounded by people in a big resort. Deani was great and stocked the place with nice treats. She even put up a Christmas Tree for us! And had beach chairs and towels! The place is about three miles from the beach but it really is a small island so it was no problem. In fact it was a good price to pay for privacy. Internet was good and it had cable TV as well. If we come back to the island we would want to stay there.
Deani was an awesome host. The house was in a nice quiet private neighborhood and served as a great home base to explore the island. It was well appointed and very clean and comfortable. Deani made so much effort to make us feel welcome. When we arrived late at night, we were welcomed with a little lit Christmas tree, home-baked goodies, a basket of local Hawaii snacks, and a bottle of wine! She even gave use recommendations about things to do while we were there that turned out to be some of our favorite experiences.
My wife and I stayed in Hawaii for 8 night and four of those were spent at Deani's cottage. Our only regret about the trip is that we did not stay the entire 8 nights there. When we return to Kauai, we will be staying there again, no question.
We visited Kaua'i for a little less than a week. While there we wanted to make the most of our time hiking and exploring all over the island, so we needed to stay somewhere central that would allow us to get across the island in an hour or less. Deani's cottage, Li'i Lani, could not have been more perfect. We hiked the Na Pali coast, Waimea Canyon, and we explored the towns of Princeville, Hanelei, Eleele and Waimea. All of these were a 60 min or less drive away.
The cottage itself is very lovely, and the setting is absolutely beautiful. It is tucked away in the country away from the more tourist trodden parts of Kapa'a allowing for quiet and privacy. If you're coming from the south island, you can see Opaekaʻa falls on your drive in. Though it is in the country, it is a short enough drive to the restaurants and shops in town should you need to grab a bite to eat or supplies.
It's clear that she and her family take great care of place. It is clean, maintained, and the attention to detail is there. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking, the closet is packed with supplies for day trips to the beach, and she had a lovely care package waiting for us when we arrived. The flowers are beautiful, and the grounds are very well kept as well.
Deani was very accommodating and she quickly responded to any concerns or questions we had during our stay. I would definitely recommend this to any couple looking for a romantic getaway! We've already decided that we're coming back.
Li'i Lani, Deani's cottage on Kauai that my husband and I rented from October 11 through the 18th, was absolutely fantastic! It is even better than the pictures can depict. It is immaculately clean, and Deani has put so much thought and detail into decorating this little cottage and making it really comfortable. We only met Deani briefly on our arrival, but her welcoming nature and her responsiveness throughout our stay really stood out.
This cottage is in a neighborhood called Wailua Homesteads next to the Wailua River State Park, the Nonou Forest Reserve, and the Opaekaa Falls that you can see from a scenic overlook on your drive to the cottage. This is all minutes from the town of Kapaa. Needless to say, it's a really beautiful, quiet, lush neighborhood that was such a treat to come back to after busy days driving all over the island, swimming and hanging out at the beach, and exploring nature. Nothing on the island is more than about 45 minutes away at the most, and many beaches and nature areas were just minutes away.
We love to cook, and the cottage provided a great kitchen with a gas stovetop and oven as well as an outdoor area with a grill (propane I think). We made some fabulous meals with all the goodies we found on the island and were able to really relax in this lovely cottage. We highly recommend it to any couple or single person wanting a quiet, beautiful retreat on Kauai!
Deani's cottage was beautiful and incredibly clean. My husband and I stayed here during the middle leg of our honeymoon and really loved having the cottage as our home base. The location was perfect and we also enjoyed the location and great food Kapa'a has to offer.
Deanie is very thoughtful host; the decor was very tasteful and inviting and we especially appreciated our wonderful basket of treats!
Thank you Deani - two thumbs up!
My wife and I stayed at Deani's lovely cottage for 9 days in May. We had a remarkably wonderful stay. Deani and her husband were wonderful hosts, and the cottage was perfect for us as we unwound upcountry from Kapaa. The fact that we were up in the country enabled us to have a lot of quiet and privacy, which were two big factors in our stay being so pleasant and refreshing.
From the wonderful bed, to the thoughtful snack basket and homemade pie (baked by her daughter!) the entire experience was wonderful.
It's a great cottage, and I would recommend it wholeheartedly to any couple looking to get away for a restful, relaxing vacation.
I treated my daughter to a trip to Kauai where we stayed in Deani's wonderful cottage for a week. It is cozy, welcoming and beautifully outfitted. All amenities are there and in beautiful taste. I had told Deani that it was my daughter's birthday and she greeted us with a large basket of Hawaiian treats, chilled champagne and a chocolate birthday cake! She's warm and gracious and told us to ask for anything we might need, but even though she lives next door, we were given total privacy as well.
The cottage is immaculately clean, the kitchen has everything needed to prepare full meals, the furnishings, kitchenware, appliances, etc., are high end. The bed is, quite simply, the most comfortable one I've ever slept in. The washer and dryer are new and efficient and the TV offers many cable channels.
We found the location ideal for getting around the island and it's in a quiet, residential neighborhood. We enjoyed exploring the neighborhood on foot each evening.
This is a place we hated to leave and we'd definitely love to return next time we visit Kauai.
Deani’s ohana cottage, Li’i Lani, was our ‘little heaven’ on our recent visit to Kaua’i. I lived in Wailua Homesteads years ago and it was a joy to come back. This is a wonderful local upcountry neighborhood with lush gardens, running streams, and amazing views of Sleeping Giant and Mount Wai’ale’ale. (There are great hiking trails on Sleeping Giant/Nounou Mountain, too.) The place is just up the road from the main road in Kapa’a, Kuhio Highway, so it’s very central to cafes and markets (and very nice beaches). It’s a perfect location because of its proximity to the North Shore (Ha’ena, Hanalei, Princeville, Kilauea) and South Shore (Poipu, Koloa, Kalaheo, Waimea). The cottage, itself, is amazing retreat. It’s totally immaculate, really comfortable, and nicely appointed. It’s very charming with ceiling fans and seashells. We arrived to a freshly baked pie and an overflowing basket of local snacks, red wine, and ground coffee. The kitchen was stocked with appliances and cooking utensils and there were a ton of helpful little items (beach towels, mats, and chairs!) to help us feel at home. There’s a beautiful vegetable garden with a seating area near the back lanai and it was a pleasure to have breakfast outside each day and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before setting off on an adventure. We highly recommend Li’i Lani and we look forward to returning one day. Mahalo nui loa, Deani!
Thank you so much for the fabulous Li'i Lani cottage in Kapa'a. The cottage was beautifully appointed, a great central location from which to explore the island and a wonderful sanctuary when we needed one.
Kaua'i is a magical place and we started planning our return before we left. We'll definitely want those surf lessons when we return.
