We are a local family with an 'ohana cottage that we would love to share with visitors.
This cottage was beyond perfect. We booked it for our entire honeymoon and were so glad we did. It is the perfect location and makes visiting any part of the island easy... there's only one road, and here you're pretty much right in the middle :). You're also about 10 minutes from Kapaa which is packed with delicious food, coffee, and juice bars - also home to the best mai tai we had on the island (The East Side). It's also just a few minutes drive from the beach as well as gorgeous hiking on Sleeping Giant.
Besides the perfect location, the cottage itself was stunning. It was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, and had the MOST comfortable bed. Deani also surprised us with an amazing gift basket of snacks, a platter of baked goods, and a bottle of champagne. Add to that there are beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, and mats as well as a full stock of sunscreen and bug spray. It was a little piece of heaven and if we ever visit Kauai again, we will absolutely stay here again.
My husband and I are about a week back from Deani's cottage, and we already want to go back! The island of Kauai is an incredibly special place and the cottage was the perfect complement. It was exactly as described, and as others have said, its Kapaa location is ideal for those looking to do day trips on various parts of the island. Its washer and dryer were also a huge plus given the hiking we did while we were there. I truly can't say enough. Deani was super easy to work with. The place had a great bed, well stocked kitchen, ceiling fans, accessories for day trips (beach towels and chairs, umbrella, etc.), and a fast wi-fi connection. We hope to go back some day.
This cottage is a gem and was perfect for our honeymoon--thank you!
The house was immaculate and the furnishings and decorations were very tastefully done. The fresh flowers in the rooms were lovely. A bottle of champagne and gluten-free banana bread made for a wonderful welcome.
This place sure made our vacation easy as there was every conceivable thing we could have needed from wine glasses to pans to utensils to beach towels to beach chairs, etc--impressive! It was nice to be able to make breakfast every day and pack a lunch if we wanted. There was an ample supply of coffee and we never ran out. Having a washer and dryer was great.
Before arriving we were concerned that it seemed that the house might be far from the beaches but they were only 10-15 mins away. Being located in the middle of the island was fantastic as we had easy access to the sunny southern beaches and also to the lush areas along the northern coast.
The neighborhood feels more semi-rural than suburban. It's a quiet area. Kapaa itself had some very good restaurants and was relaxed (like most of the towns we visited).
We had a red-eye flight off the island and Deani let us check out late which was great as we could shower after the beach.
The cottage is perfect for two people but won't work well with more people or kids. I'm glad we didn't have our five year old there. It would have been too tight in the living room.
Don't hesitate to jump on this place if it's open during your time in Kauai. You won't be disappointed.
No one could ask any more from a host, like Deani, and a place, like their cottage. Deani was terrific in every way, from accommodating challenges in my schedule to greeting me upon my stay at the cottage and thereafter as I spent almost 3 weeks in Kauai. She and her family had lovely treats waiting for me upon my arrival and their place itself is amazing. The cottage is just like... actually now that I think of it, better than the pictures on Airbnb, and you can't beat its location. It's central to everything on the island and the neighborhood is pristine. I can't tell you how wonderful my stay was here. I didn't know what to expect since it was my first time using Airbnb and I also had never been to Kauai. The experience far surpassed my expectations on all fronts and I left the cottage and the island longing so much to come back. Fortunately, I am! I must say I don't think I have ever slept in a more comfortable bed. In addition, Deani and her family have done all the little things with their cottage that makes one feel like they really are inviting you into their home and just want you to enjoy everything they and the island has to offer. I really can't wait to come back and have told tons of my friends and family about my stay and about Deani's lovely cottage. The serenity and beauty of the cottage is the perfect metaphor for Kauai and there isn't anything really anyone can ask for. This is a home run.. grand slam... out of the park!
We loved this place! Stayed over a week. It was private and we definitely felt welcomed by Deani. She also was super prompt to respond whenever we had any questions.
We found ourselves being gone most of the time during the day because we did a lot of adventuring but it was a great place to come home to, and its a good place to get to anywhere on the island from, assuming you have a car.
Note: Before we came to stay Deani asked if we had any diet restrictions and I mentioned that my girlfriend couldn't eat gluten and when we arrived there were two different types of delicious homemade cookies! Amazing.
This was great! A true luxury place ... we enjoyed it a lot. Everything (and more) was there what we needed: coffee, cereals, even a bottle of wine. And beach towels etc. Deani was a great host, 150% recommendable! :)
The adorable cottage is very comfortable with everything you need to make nice meals and to have a blast at the beaches. The location is in a quiet little neighborhood, but is just a few minutes from Kapa'a. The bed is very cozy and the home is very well equipped. Deani is lovely and left us some baked treats to have when we arrived late evening and some banana bread for breakfast. We will definitely look to stay in this lovely home next time we visit our favorite Hawaiian island, Kauai.
We visited Deani's cottage for our honeymoon and had a great time. The cottage is a quick drive from the coast, and the central location on the east side allowed us to easily hit the north shore one day and the south the next. The property is well maintained and in a nice neighborhood.
Deani is a wonderful and knowledgeable host and was able to provide some tips for restaurants and activities to help us further enjoy our stay on the island. The cottage was super clean and comfortable. There was even some fresh baked banana bread in a welcome basket!
Overall I would definately recommed Deani's cottage if you are headed to Kauai. 10/10!
The private cottage was perfect for our trip. It is a beautiful place with a very comfortable bed, nice living area, and kitchen. It was our romantic base for our island trip where we would sip coffee in the morning out back and come back after our days adventure. It was great to have alone time and not be surrounded by people in a big resort. Deani was great and stocked the place with nice treats. She even put up a Christmas Tree for us! And had beach chairs and towels! The place is about three miles from the beach but it really is a small island so it was no problem. In fact it was a good price to pay for privacy. Internet was good and it had cable TV as well. If we come back to the island we would want to stay there.
Deani was an awesome host. The house was in a nice quiet private neighborhood and served as a great home base to explore the island. It was well appointed and very clean and comfortable. Deani made so much effort to make us feel welcome. When we arrived late at night, we were welcomed with a little lit Christmas tree, home-baked goodies, a basket of local Hawaii snacks, and a bottle of wine! She even gave use recommendations about things to do while we were there that turned out to be some of our favorite experiences.
My wife and I stayed in Hawaii for 8 night and four of those were spent at Deani's cottage. Our only regret about the trip is that we did not stay the entire 8 nights there. When we return to Kauai, we will be staying there again, no question.
