Cute Bungalow within walking distance of everything Avondale has to offer. If you want authentic shabby chic, you'll not be disappointed here. Nothing in this house is new, but everything is impeccably clean and everything works. The porch is the best feature of this house. We didn't spend any time in the back yard due to being butted up against a high-traffic off-ramp and railroad tracks.
If you stay in Avondale you will hear the train from any property in the zip code, and complaining about that is futile. Despite the proximity, the train horns were not as bad as I would have imagined it from having lived there for three years in the past.
The queen bed in the main bedroom is rock hard, and the futon is nice and cushy.
Will stay here again!
Centrally located, plenty of room, clean and perfectly stocked for a comfortable stay, and great porch!
We had a FABULOUS stay! I would highly recommend this location.
Charming is a perfect word for this wonderful, cozy, come-home kind of house. From the moment we stepped onto the porch until the moment we left, we felt warmly welcome to be there, and a bit like we were back at Grandma's house where we had spent long comforting summers. Impeccably clean, WELL and generously equipped, (thickest towels, GREAT kitchenware and china, and a ton of surprise extras left if you want them like coffee, sugar, spices, etc), and situated so close to a really awesome cafe and pizzeria, this is a four star experience. The only thing that prevented it from being five star was the need for some surface work like paint and plaster on a few doors and the ceiling. It didn't detract from the pleasure of the stay though, in fact, it sort of served as a reminder that this house was built back when they built houses strong and sturdy. We loved every moment and WILL be back.
Cozy bungalow with easy access to good stuff in JAX. Delightful front porch. Great neighborhood for a walk.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is spacious and really cool. Aimee was very responsive to all my questions, and there was plenty of room for me to teach a class. Definitely will stay here again when we're in Jacksonville again.
Aimee German's little house in the Avondale neighborhood of Jacksonville Florida was just what we needed in many ways. The carefully cared for house was comfortable, with a well tooled kitchen, and internet. Provided a good home-base as we visited family.
Aimee was a lovely host; she made sure everything was set up before I arrived and had suggestions for restaurants to eat at nearby. The neighborhood is lovely, and though it's a little further out east than preferred, it was super easy to get to and from Manhattan and you get to stay away from all the noise. The apartment itself is smaller than I'm used to but that's the only way you'll experience "New York City." The neighbors are lovely and were very considerate of our stay using the kitchen only when needed. Thanks Aimee!
The house was great. It is a short walk to a few stores and restaurants and the front patio is a wonderful place to relax. The house had everything we needed. My wife and I enjoyed it and would definitely rent this place again.
Response from Aimee:
Thanks again John! Really glad you had a pleasant stay!
The house was lovely and beautifully decorated with lights, a christmas tree and decorations which made it even more homely. Aimee's recommendations were great and after the first try we carried on with her list ignoring the guidebook.
Omly one thing, take ear plugs as the trains and traffic can be disturbing.
Response from Aimee:
Thanks you Jane for the nice words!!!
