Eric and Cheryl are excellent communicators and the logistics were all taken care of perfectly. The apartment is clean, comfortable, and a reasonable walk from the BART.
Pleasant space... Nice amenities... Smells of French cuisine along the prominade. Thanks for a memorable visit.
Staying at Eric and Cheryl's place was truly perfect. Really convenient and if you're vegan like I am you'll seriously be in restaurant Mecca. (and if you're not, you'll still be in the food Mecca.) The apartment is comfortable, really pleasant and accessible, hard to find in an airbnb. Eric and Cheryl were a pleasure to work with throughout the whole experience. Don't think twice, book it!
We spent over a month in Eric & Sheryl's condo while looking for an apartment in the Bay Area. In short, This has been of the greatest airbnb experiences we have ever had.
For starters, the condo is ideally located in the intersection of Downtown Berkeley and the Gourmet Ghetto. This means you have both the convenience of bart, but also easy access to some of the best places to eat in the east bay (we tried Chez Panisse, Mission Heirloom, Comal, Ippuku, Gregoire, Guerilla cafe and of course Cheeseboard pizza). Also, if you are visiting UC Berkeley this is as good as it gets in terms of convenience: the campus is 5 min walking.
The condo itself is a spacious one bedroom with all the amenities. We found it perfectly clean. The pictures do not make justice as to how spacious it actually is. We rented a car for some days and Eric provided us with parking access (against a small fee).
But above all these considerations, we are so happy to have met Eric and Sheryl; they helped us with the apartment hunting with tons of useful tips, they shared their precious foodie insider information, and overall they made our relocation to the Bay Area a nice and smooth transition! We are glad airbnb connected us!
This room is very nice and you get everything you need, will choose it again when my next trip to berkeley!
The host contacted me several times prior to my booking to make sure I had all the information I needed. Very safe building with security code to gain access. Clean apartment close to everything!
This is a very conveniently located Berkeley apartment, really close to the Gourmet Ghetto and the university campus. Very easy access to the BART too so great for getting to San Francisco. The trip to/from SFO was less than an hour, too. The apartment itself is fine. It is a little worn, and "studenty", but clean and warm. Eric was a very welcoming and helpful host.
This apartment is extremely convenient--great for anyone coming to UC Berkeley for work, and also very close to so many amazing restaurants. And Eric was beyond helpful. He sent updates on the day of my arrival about possible public transit problems, and offered to let me know about alternate routes. He also was very accommodating about a later departure time. It was above and beyond what I ever would have expected!
Eric's home is in a perfect location - right above a little French cafe that's the beginning of Berkeley's gourmet "ghetto" with a very short walk to BART, to gourmet grocery stores, to a coffee place just around the corner. The whole apartment complex feels safe and inviting, and you can check with Eric about how to have the easiest parking on earth if you have a car (very hard to find in the city, and a godsend if you need to be keeping a car during the day or overnight). As for the space itself, it is gently appointed with just the right details, with a small but totally functioning kitchen, a spacious great room and bathroom, and a bedroom in such soothing colors that its a great place to be rejuvenated. The color palette is low-key but enjoyable, as are a number of small touches to make it the kind of place to enjoy just "being," such as the dining nook next to the kitchen and the desk for doing computer work, and a very comfortable sofa set off by a pretty rug. You can see it all in the photos, and it's true to form in how it looks. Eric was a very helpful host, also. For instance, helping us arrange for the parking once we knew we'd need it.
A warm and welcoming apartment,Eric's place is incredibly convenient and such a great location, it is execptionally clean, and as a host he work hard to make you feel at home.I stayed for a week and if I can back to Berkeley I would stay again.
It was a pleasure having Eric and his friends at our home. They were very respectful of the space, very communicative before and during their stay, and we hope they'll all come back again soon!
Eric Kho and family,
Unfortunately I did not meet in person with this beautiful family, as I just got home from an shoulder operation, sustained through a motorbike accident, please be careful everybody on the roads in beautiful Bali.
But the reviews I got from my staff and girlfriend is that they enjoyed their stay in Villa Tao very much.
A happy guest/family is for us very satisfying and we really hope to welcome back Eric Kho and family in the near future, as they are always more than welcome.
Hang loose and we will perhaps surf and have a drink when you come back to Villa Tao in the near future.
We really enjoyed hosting Eric: he was an absolute blast to have in the house. We were fortunate to get to spend lots of time with him and skied with him all day one day. It was awesome! He's a fantastic skier, a really great conversationalist and a really fun house guest. We would welcome him back to our home any time and I highly recommend that you do the same!
Eric was a real cutie pie! He blew in like a feather on the wind with a beautiful Audrey-esque girl who really could have been in the movies for mere moments before heading out on some madcap adventure for the evening, so I didn't really get to spend much time with him. But he had a wonderful way about him and was a great guest for the night he was here. And he'd be welcome back any time he so desired, as he should be welcome in homes of any other Air B&B hosts he might choose to contact in the future seeking accommodations. Look at that smile! How could anyone refuse a face like that?!?
