Gabriele picked us up from the train station , and made 2 trips for the 4 of us. Much appreciated.
Older style family home. Very clean and tidy . Fully stocked kitchen, including samples of local paste, sauce etc if we wanted to cook (we didn't ).
Nearby shops were great and gave us a bit of a local flavour during breakfast.
10 minutes walk into the walled area and Lucca was a delight.
Try and catch the Puccini offerings (varies , available every day of the year).
No real living room to catch up with friends, but we chtted around the big kitchen table .
Our stay in the snug apartment in Lucca was everything we had expected. Perfect for the two of us, in a quiet neighborhood. We used the complimentary bikes every day and for excursions outside the city wall. Emiliano's brother met us at the train station and drove us to the apartment as well as took us to the car rental agency when we departed. The neighborhood shop keepers helped to make our stay memorable. The kitchen is well equipped and everything you need is within a five minute walk.
We had a fabulous time in Lucca . The house is fantastic . There was only two of us but would be plenty big enough for two couples . The kitchen has everything you need if you choose to cook . It's literally only 500m from the wall.
We rode the wall, followed the river and followed the aqueducts ...all on the bikes that were supplied to us at the house .
What a lovely man Gabrielle was. He helped us with our queries and was lovely to chat with .
Lucca is definitely up there with one of our favourite spots in Italy and would go back there and stay at this exact house if we do ..
Also do yourself a favour and attend one of the concerts they run every single night of the year in honour of Puccini ...
Thank you Gabrielle and than you Lucca
All communication with Emiliano beforehand and his brother Gabriel once we got there was prompt and helpful. The place was nicely decorated, very clean and true to the pictures. It's in a great location on a quiet street just a few blocks outside the walls. The kitchen is well equipped except that there was no coffee pot or coffee maker. The bed we slept in was comfortable (firm mattress) with nice sheets. Towels were provided and were nice as well. The two bicycles they had available for our use were a much appreciated bonus. Ride them in the walled section later in the evening when most everyone has parked their cars.
Overall, it's a great place to stay and we recommend it.
We spent six days in Emiliano's apt. It was spacious & beautifully decorated. It was 500 meters outside the city walls it took only a few minutes to get into the walls. The apt. Was well furnished with towels & linens & spotless. The bedrooms were large and comfortable. We like that parking was available for,the rental, car. It was truly as perfect as could be! Thanks to Gabrielle for taking care of us while Emiliano is away.
This lovely accommodation was nicely furnished and met all requirements. The owners are accommodating and the most gracious hosts. We look forward to another stay in this apartment one day!
What a lovely apartment in a quiet residential area of Lucca, close to the old city walls! Private parking space and two bikes, courtesy of the host, are a big plus. Bike on top of the Lucca old city walls!
In July, pick your favourite act at the Lucca Summer Festival. This July my favourite - Neil Young & Crazy Horse.Would be great if Lucca were to host Musica Nuda / Petra Mangani & Feruccio Spinetti next year.
Emiliano's brother, Gabriele, is the kindest and most helpful of hosts. Grazie!
We had a great stay at Emillianos family's house. It is a beautiful house just outside the city walls of Lucca.
The floor level of the house is occupied by Emilianos mother who looks after the beautiful garden. The apartment they rent out is the entire 1st floor of that house. It is very big and decorated in a very traditional Italian style with antique furniture and such everywhere.
The family is extremely helpful and welcoming and we strongly recommend staying here when in Lucca.
The detail of lending us two bicycles every day was perfect!
I stayed for 5 weeks in Emiliano's apartment during May/June 2013 while attending a language school in Lucca. The apartment is bright, spacious and comfortable. There was plenty of bed linen and there were good towels. The kitchen is well equipped and it is wonderful to find so much of the necessities on arrival such as; salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, spices and lots of other cooking necessities. Also there was a good supply of washing up and laundry liquids, shampoo, cleaning things etc.
The apartment looks over 2 different streets, which is interesting.
It has windows on 3 sides, which is wonderful when the weather is hot, as in the evenings there is a lovely breeze through the apartment. Of course the shutters were closed during the day! From one side there is a view of the Torre Guinigi and from another is the Villa Bottini. The third view is of rooftops of Lucca with the mountains in the distance and is also very pleasant.
Emiliano supplied me with a bicycle, which is almost a necessity in Lucca. I used it to cycle to Lucca Italian School on the 'Wall' every morning. The Botanical gardens are 5 minutes walk away, where there are open-air concerts every Friday night for the summer months. The 'Wall' is also just 5 minutes walk from the apartment.
Gabriele, Emiliano's brother, met me at the train station and carried my suitcases up the 54 steps to the apartment. While it is a lot of steps, I did not mind climbing them, but it might cause difficulty for some to climb that number of steps. You do not want to forget anything when you are leaving to go out, as it is a long climb back up!
The WIFI worked perfectly for me and was important to me for my stay there. I had heat if I needed it, and I did for the first week only.
The bathroom is a little small but was adequate.
I really enjoyed my stay in the apartment, and it is very well placed in Lucca, in an area that is not too busy or noisy, but still has everything nearby, such as restaurants, bakery and grocery shop and butcher.
I had the pleasure of meeting Emiliano and his wife Sonia, who were home briefly in Lucca. Emiliano was at the end of the phone if I had any problem as was Gabriele.
I would recommend this apartment, if you do not mind the steps, as I think it was very good value for money and it suited my needs very well. Thanks Emiliano and Sonia. I hope to be back next year.
I recently spent a month in Lucca, and Emiliano's flat provided the perfect base for exploring the area (although Lucca is such a special town, it was hard to leave, even for day trips!). I can't say enough good things about the apartment: clean and comfortable, beautiful tile floors and new windows that keep out the noise and keep heat in/out accordingly, an amazing view of the Torre Guinigi, and a kitchen stocked with pretty much any cooking tool your heart could desire. Emiliano is currently living abroad, and his brother, Gabriele, helps out when folks stay at the apartment - and they are a great team. Gabriele picked my husband and me up from the train station, and was very accommodating in helping to resolve an internet service issue. Emiliano was available via email, and provided wonderful local recommendations on the culinary front. I was incredibly happy with the accommodations and would highly recommend them.
Emiliano and his family were wonderful guests. They took good care of the apartment place and the apartment was as clean and tidy as i left it. The communication with Emiliano/Sonia was great - responsive and attentive. Emi and his family were great and I would recommend him to anyone.
Emiliano and his family took good care of our place and left everything clean and tidy. Communicating with Emiliano/Sonia was very easy - prompt and clear. We'd highly recommend Emiliano as a guest to everyone and would welcome him back to our place.
Emiliano was a wonderful guest. He is welcome back anytime.
Wonderful guests! Quiet and respectful of property, Sonia and Emiliano were a pleasure to host. I highly recommend them to anybody considering hosting them. They left the cottage in great condition. Five stars all around!
Emiliano and Sonia were pleasant, quiet, respectful guests who are most welcome as my guests anytime in the future.
excellent guest. Very happy to have accommodated them. Super friendly, respectful and clean. Id absolutely recommend them.
Emiliano è stato un ospite pulito ed ordinato! consigliato!
Emiliano e Sonia sono due persone bellissime .
Sono molto precisi e disponibili, sicuramente abituati a viaggiare!
Spero di riaverli come ospiti presto :)
It was a pleasure to have such a lovely couple around! Only downside: they didn't stay long enough! We very much hope to welcome them again here at our home! The perfect guest(s)!
Emiliano and Sonia left the appartement in perfect condition and where very respectful of house rules and easy with logistics.
