Originally from Wisconsin and still holding on to those great Midwest values.
Stayed here with my wife for two weeks while we were getting our bathroom remodeled. It was a great experience. There was parking for our two cars in the back. Never took the metro but it is a short walk away. Kitchen could probably use a few more glasses but other than that was surprisingly well equipped. Plenty of pots / pans and lots of low end kitchen knifes. There was even a rice cooker which looked brand new. When we were there the washer / dryer wasn't working. Building is older so it had the typical "old building smell." Neighbors were really quiet. Really great water pressure in the shower.
The reservation was canceled 65 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Our stay at Stacy's apartment in Alexandria was so great! It is right by the metro so we were able to go into DC whenever we wanted. We were also able to walk to Old Town Alexandria. Great apartment! My friends and I really enjoyed ourselves!
This was a great location and the apartment was very clean. The blow up mattress didn't stay completely inflated and the twin bed could have used a mattress topper but other than that it was great! We had some issues with the internet and cable on the first day and Stacy was very quick to respond and help and even gave us a $25 credit for our inconvenience! All in all a great stay!
Stacy's apartment was great. It was very close to the Metro, which made everything in DC seem very accessible. She gave detailed instructions for how to get to her apartment that made the arrival very easy.
Though my husband and I never met Stacy during our stay, she made sure we had what we needed, and was accessible if we had questions.
The apartment was clean and bright, and suited our purposes wonderfully. It was very close to the Huntington metro stop, which was incredibly convenient for sight-seeing. The neighborhood is a nice, middle-class area, and there is a 7-11 and some places to grab a quick bite within a 5 minutes walk.
If you're looking for a well-kept, reasonably priced place to stay in the DC area, I would definitely recommend you stay with Stacy!
We stayed here a week in October. Nice enough apartment described below. Stacy was easy to work with, though she changed the check in procedure with a voice mail at home after we were traveling. Luckily, we found the keys left outside the main door.
Location: Convenient to Huntington station at the end of the yellow line metro. A five minute hike up the hill and sometimes have to wait 10-15 min for a train, then about 20 minutes to downtown.
Neighborhood: Lower rent, but never felt unsafe. Pilars restaurant looks scary outside, but decent Salvadoran food inside. Good nail/pedi place nearby. 7-eleven across the street. Trash pick up there daily at 4 am will wake you.
Building: Older brick. Main door rarely locked. Stairwell a bit musty with really old carpet. Neighbors very quiet.
Apartment: Tiny kitchen has been updated nicely. Bare minimum dishes (a single wine glass). The dishwasher had not been run. K-cup type coffee maker. Internet speed about 8mbs. Living room has a comfortable couch and cable. Temperature controls easy to use. Creaky wooden floors. Bedrooms adequate size, but carpets are past cleaning and need replacing. Master has older queen foam mattress. Sheets clean, but comforter lumpy and could use cleaning. Better lighting would help. We could not find spare toilet paper or paper towels. Bring your own soap and shampoo or use someone else's leftovers.
I had a great time staying at this apartment, which is a few miles away from old town Alexandria but was perfect for my needs (close to highway and National Harbor, where I was going to a business conference). Plenty of room, all the modern conveniences, and well maintained. The walls are a bit thin so you might hear people next door every so often, but it's quiet at night. Stacy was also very helpful in connecting with me and getting me into the apartment. Overall, highly recommended...
The apartment looks as advertised. It is well kept and clean, but there are stains on the carpet. It's on the 3rd floor, so make sure you are able to bring your stuff up. Two things...1) at the front door you must put the key in, pull it out slightly, and turn to the RIGHT. I had to figure that one out. 2) there are very bright lights outside both bedrooms, so make sure the owner puts up the curtains if you don't want it to seem like mid-day while you are sleeping.
We needed a place in Alexandria for a week and this one worked out pretty well. We had a bit of difficulty getting into the place, but Stacy was able to respond very quickly and we got into the place. The photos are accurate, and the apartment was clean and ready for us.
The apartment is very close to the Huntington Metro stop so if you are without a car, that's very useful. There's plenty of parking at the apartment complex, though, as well.
The neighborhood is not the most desirable, but if you need parking and/or easy metro access, this is a good bet.
Stacy and Kate stayed with us a couple of days and they were great guests ! We hardly even noticed they were there ! The room was left clean and was well cared for. They are always welcome in London and highly recommended !
Stacy is my neighbor and introduced me to AirBnB. She is a respectful, quiet neighbor with two amazingly well behaved and sweet dogs. She's helpful around the community and takes pride in her apartment and the neighborhood.
