We were supposed to arrive around 8:30pm on a friday, but we didn't arrive until 9pm due to a train delay. I messaged Olivia letting her know that we would be running late and her reply was very rude saying she had to go. When we arrived she was not very helpful because she told us she had someplace else to be. This was not exactly the most welcoming arrival. The room was very nice and clean. It had everything we needed, and perfect space for two people. The location was amazing only a couple steps away from the Ponte Veccio and the Pitti Palace. I would recommend staying here!
It was perfect. Cant think of anything bad to say, and if i will be returning to Florence, i will always search if the availabilty of this apartment. Perfect location, clean and nicely decorated. 5 stars and more! Diolch yn Fawr Olivia! X

This apartment is brilliantly situated for exploring the beautiful medievil city of Florence - across the road from the Arno River, directly across the river from Uffizi Museum, 100 metres from the Ponte Vecchio and Vasari Corridor, a few blocks from the Pitti Palazzo. Brilliant. Walk almost everywhere - Florence is compact, encourages walking and is difficult to drive in.
The apartment is in a c1200 palace and consists essentially of two good size rooms, one on the ground floor & one upstairs. The entrance into the cpmplex is through an arched doorway. Each of the double doors is about a metre wide, three metres high and 100 mm thick oak studded with iron spikes. Four metres inside is a similar archway with doors made from 25 mm iron bars on 100mm centres that has been glazed. Inside this is a inconspicuous door into the apartment.
Both main rooms have vaulted ceilings, the floors, steps and stairs are covered in well worn unglazed terracotta tiles that might be 2-300 years old, and the walls and ceiling have been painted white with limewash, a soft paint that has been used for 2,000+ years. The property was as clean as could be expected given these traditional surface finishes - previous reviewers have alleged a smell of mold - perhaps this was actually limewash smell.
Downstairs there was a lovely 1930 (?) room divider, period hall table and mirror, modern pine (black) extension table and a sofa bed. Upstairs were steel framed king size bed and two singles. A modern landing raised the sitting area to the hight of the windows and afforded great views of the Ponte Vecchio, Vasari Corridor, Ufizzi, Arno River, etc and the street life outside. Curiously two single mattresses were on the king be => uncomfortable joint. The apartment was quite cool inside provided, like the Tuscans, one kept the wooden shutters closed when it was sunny.
Now a few brick backs:
* the "kitchen" is disgusting - barely OK to make coffee - old equipment, poorly designed and disfunctional. We always ate out!
* Although it has beds for six people, the shower is in the downstairs living room. This could be inconvenient!
* To get from the living room to the kitchen one goes up three steps and then down three steps, from the upstairs bedroom to the toilet one goes down a step then up a step, the stairs are very steep and the varios steps are not of uniform height or width - this does not comply with modern safety standards.
* road noise from the cobbled street is significant from (phone number hidden) daily.
* all furniture and equipment not mentioned in the first couple of paragraphs seems to have come from opp-shops and K-mart - very cheap.
* there is no wifi - public wifi is intermittent.
Olivia answered all our emails promptly and courteously and met us on arrival and showed us around the apartment. An email away.
Olivia was a good and patient host and responded to our questions quickly. The place matched the ad closely. The neighborhood was very good, since it was just a minute from the Ponte Vecchio and the other historical sights. However, the neighborhood was a bit noisy. Bring ear plugs.
We are so happy with the comfortable stay in the heart of beautiful Florence.
The location cannot be better.
The apartment was very clean and convenient to live with a baby. There we found everything required for cooking (even the olive oil) and the supermarket Conad is very close (~80m). However, we also visited trattoria Nella on the other side of the river where my child liked vegetable soups and rabbit.
Olivia kindly provided the baby cot with beautiful bed linen for my daughter. She allowed us to check in earlier, so my daughter felt asleep on time like we were at home.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay in the apartment hosted by Olivia. The apartment was clean and comfortable and extremely close to the ponte vecchio, which was extremely convenient. We would stay here again!

I knew Olivia some years Ago in Vinitaly, the international wine exthibition in Verona. She is lovely, a perfect host and i know her fantastic dinners and i saw the flat she rents in Florence. I can say Olivia is correct, she knows how to do with foreing people in Florence. If you like to have a place near Florence city center, but even Ok for excursions in Siena, Chiantishire and Sangimignano i think you have founded a good solution. Olivia speaks a very good English and she understand even German. From Marco Barbaro
Olivia's place is a beautiful house recently renovated in an enchanted site. It is in the city at walking distance from all major monuments through a pleasant walk, but in an oasis of green and quiet, with a beautiful private garden. Olivia will enchant you with its warmth and hospitality, with her cooking, if you will decide to ask her, and with her green eyes.
She will do everything to put you at ease and prevent your needs. She will keep you updated on what is interesting in the city: openings, exhibitions, festivals ... often free and rewarding. She is a really nice person in every sense.
