Kerem was very accommodating and although he wasn't in his apartment during our stay, he was always very quick to answer any questions we had for him. The apartment was in a good location, close to subway and only 20min walk to Times Square and 15mins to Chelsea market.
The apartment was comfortable enough however there was a faint damp smell.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay in the apartment and if you are prepared to walk, you hardly have to catch the subway or cab to get anywhere.

We were provided with all information required from K.D. prior to arrival, and whilst never actually meeting him, he did resolve two minor issues we had very promptly and was a good host.
The location of the apartment was fantastic. It is a fifteen minute walk to Time Square and Chelsea Market in either direction. Its location to the metro system is very good.
The apartment matches the description. It can comfortably accommodate four people and sleep up to five at a stretch. All of these factors made the stay very enjoyable. The building is modern and secure and the guys at the front desk were friendly and helpful.
The laundry and gym are on the same floor and well maintained.
Overall, the entire experience was underwhelming. The pictures definitely make the place look much better than it actually is. The entire duplex is pretty run down and has taken some obvious abuse. All the furniture could use some updating and touching up. The lower floor smells like sewage (more on this later). There is also a fly / insect problem, but maybe that's just true of the entire area.
So things got off to a pretty rough start. I was notified once I landed that the apartment wasn't ready and that they were in the middle of cleaning. It was just me and my other two companions had not yet arrived, so not a huge concern. Then I finally arrived, and was greeted by Kaptan, the neighbor of the host. They have this interesting arrangement set up where Kaptan handles everything but KD is the host. It's strange, but works, I guess. Anyways, that's when I finally saw the place. It looked like a fraternity house almost. This was probably in part because the place had no been cleaned yet. So fine, I told them I'd go grab a bite to eat and expected everything to be done when I get back.
This is where it got interesting. I come back from dinner at probably 10pm at this point. The cleaning lady was still cleaning and I find Kaptan in panic mode. He tells me we have a crisis. Apparently the pipes in the kitchen were clogged and for some reason sewage was seeping in. They had to find a plumber who spent the next two hours fixing this. Everything was finally done when my companions showed up (I told them not to come until I gave the all clear) around midnight. At this point, the entire lower level just smelled of sewage and this was a smell that would never quite go away for the remainder of the week that I was there.
After that, it was okay. Very mediocre experience. Maybe it's just Manhattan, I don't know. There were constantly flies and bugs moving about. I heard scuffling in the walls (could be rats). The back yard is a complete dump. There is AC in two rooms but one of them does not have AC so that was inconvenient. They did provide fans in every room though. Most of the walls were scuffed and had markings on it. The place has seen better days and it was obvious. I wouldn't come back again, but perhaps my expectations were just too high because of the pictures. The location was nice and it was central to everything I had to do. It's a block from Penn. Station so that was nice.
The location was perfect. Plenty of restaurants nearby and not too far from a subway stop. Our host was very kind and made sure that someone was personally available to meet us and show us the place. They were very timely in getting back to us whenever we had questions or needs.
We loved the duplex's space and location. It was a considerably close walk from madison square gardens which made our arrival quite pleasant. It met all of our needs, and the elevator access to the kitchen level was absolutely a blessing for my grandmother. It met our basic needs well. The security at the front door/access to the building was comforting.
The apartment had taken a bit of abuse and it saddened us that such a beautiful apartment was disrespected by previous guests. We were left with only one key set (guests that left that morning took the other set) which very seriously diminished what our large group was able to do and see while in the city, because we constantly needed to meet to exchange the keys, or leave someone behind to let others in. The pull out couch in the pictures was replaced by a black couch that was luckily comfortable, but could not have slept 2 people, we had some allergy issues with it too.. The kitchen lacked a mixing bowl and kitchen tools like cooking spoons, spatulas, and a collander, but we made do and borrowed from the neighbor who welcomed us. He was as accomadating as he could be, but I felt terrible for needing to borrow things in the first place. The stair case was beautiful but I would not reccomend this place for people with very small children who are newer to walking. The backyard space was lovely but not left in a condition that I could let my children play in.
We did not see any air conditioning units , and the fans we found both had broken bases, but did the job adequately for the two 80 degree days we had during our 5 day stay. It really was a very nice stay overall, the neighborhood was very safe and the duplex was spacious compared to where friends were staying at the same time.
KD was an awesome host. He was really accommodating with our early arrival and 9pm departure. The apartment was perfect for my two coworkers and I. We were in town working a convention at the Javits Center and the apartment is only a ten minute walk! This apartment is also perfect for anything at Madison Square Garden which is only 2 blocks away, Penn Station is right there.

KD was a pleasant guest and left the room pretty clean..never made a mess in the apartment and was a good communicator. He brought to my attention that the litterbox was bothering him and so we moved it and I think that was a helpful suggestion for the future of the apartment. Wishing him the best;)
K.D. and guest where very nice! They are welcome back anytime.
KD was a wonderful guest and I will miss having him!!! He was perfect.
