I am a protagonist, optimist and one-time fire walker with a single-minded focus: to make the world a better place. Author of 2 controversial books, spiritual and relationship mentor, visionary, Ayurveda culinary arts teacher, and stress reliever with a creative twist. But my clients just call me the artist who lives in the house with the crooked fence.
Sound intimidating? I’m not. In fact, my calm personality puts people at ease – and that’s why they like me.
Inspired by the power of purpose, passion and people I host 2 weekly radio shows. My guests and I love to talk about health, happiness, relationships and stories of accomplishment that encourage everyone to live their highest potential.
I grew up in Motown during an era of racial riots, bussing, political assassinations, The Beatles, Transcendental Meditation, Viet Nam war, Watergate, the Cold War, Woodstock, Rosemary’s Baby and Peter Max, whose art clearly expressed the psychedelic craziness of a history wrought with turbulent change. In spite of the revolution happening outside, I continued playing my flute, sewing cool clothes, competing on the YMCA swim team, doing yoga, meditation and judo. Nothing was going to stop me from living my passions. This is where my devotion to creativity and my spiritual discipline took root.
My college and university years were devoted to art, animation and filmmaking. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Windsor and a Post Graduate Degree in Computer Animation from Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. I studied classical animation at Center for Creative Studies in Detroit and received a Liberal Arts Degree and Associates Degree from Oakland Community College in Michigan.
After school my educational adventures continued and have not stopped. I added healing arts into the mix and traveled internationally to attend workshops, conferences and classes in everything from Educational Kinesiology to aromatherapy massage, from Reiki to Therapeutic Touch, from papermaking to body painting to jewelry design and life-size sculpting with concrete. I am a certified Reflexologist, a Licensed HeartMath Stress Specialist and an Ayurveda Culinary Arts Teacher. My art is a visual blend of “WOW” and a one-of-a-kind healing feast for the senses.
My first short film, The Dognapper, placed 2nd in an all Ontario Film Festival, was shown at the Toronto Science Center and broadcast on TV in a collection of works honoring the Canadian National Film Board.
In 1993 I Initiated, organized and birthed Kincardine’s first annual Artists’ Studio Tour. It’s now in its 20th year.
Currently I am helping individuals increase their levels of health and emotional well-being through a program I developed called Mastering Happiness. I also assist prisoners in transforming their lives by mentoring them in yoga practices, meditation, stress and emotional management and all aspects of spirituality through a not-for-profit organization called Feast for the Soul.
When I’m not inspiring people to make the world a better place, you’re most likely to find me curled up by the wood stove playing with my cats, or dancing in the kitchen.
