I am a garden designer and a beekeeper.
We had a wonderful stay at Mary's truly serene cottage. The location was perfect -- away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas of Cape May, and a short drive from both Cape May and Cape May Point. Mary had terrific restaurant suggestions. While Mary wasn't there during our stay, she was very responsive . Being able to use the outdoor grill was an added bonus. My husband and I (both city dwellers with no yard) were in heaven. It was the perfect weekend getaway.
Response from Mary:
Thanks Sheila! That's a great suggestion!! I wondered why more guests didn't use the outdoor shower - (those who do use it love it) and I will add it to the House Notes. Sorry we didn't meet and I hope you'll visit again!
Even more beautiful than the pictures! Our family had a wonderful stay at Mary's Serene Garden Cottage. The screened-in porch with views of the lush and gorgeous garden was the perfect place to have coffee and breakfast in the morning before heading off to the beach. Highly recommend!
The cottage was beautiful and the name truly suited it. The host provided information that made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable! We plan to stay at Serene Garden's again!
Mary was a very thoughtful and considerate hostess. She helped me feel very welcome and informed about a resort that I had never visited. As a woman traveling alone, I deeply appreciated her patience and grace.

We had a great stay at Mary's garden cottage.
Everything was as described and Mary was a fantastic host and her local restaurant recommendations where the best!
If we ever return to Cape May, i'll be checking here 1st :)
We enjoyed our stay at Mary's place. She was out of town during our stay but communicated with us and was available when we needed her. The space was lovely. We loved that both bedrooms led to the screened in sun room. The weather was great during our stay but when it got chilly at night we enjoyed a fire in the pit out back. Cape May is a great area. Unfortunately we only stayed two days and discovered Higbee Beach the morning we left. A cute gem of a beach...check it out!
Mary was a warm and welcoming host. (She even invited us to meet her bees!) She communicated clearly and quickly, making it easy to find her place and settle in. She also gave us some great recommendations for places to eat off the beaten path. Her place is a wonderful little getaway spot with a huge backyard, enclosed porch, and tons of natural light. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy Cape May without the tourist crowds.
Mary's cottage was sweet and cozy, perfect for our little family! We enjoyed scampering around in her lovely garden, and will have to come back to see it again when it is not covered in snow!
Beautiful place in a beautiful setting.
Mary's guest house is a great place for those of you wanting to visit Cape May while being able to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the town at the same time. Her guest house is very clean and relaxing and the views of the expansive backyard and large tree next to the deck are pleasant and nice to wake up to in the morning. The guest house comfortably housed myself my husband and mother in law, and could easily fit a few more guests if needed. Though Mary was out of town during our stay, checking in was a smooth process. The wifi signal in the house is a bit weak but really the point of going here was to relax and not be constantly "connected" so that wasn't really an issue. Overall a great experience, we would definitely recommend Mary's place.
