Linda's place was centrally located, and very airy & comfortable. She was very kind and assisted our family of 4 with two young children by picking us up from the train station and taking us to the airport coach. We had an issue with internet connection during our stay but she had it resolved in a day. We are very happy with our stay and would not hesitate to recommend her place.
Apartment was as pictured, in a great location - walking distance to major shopping district and the King's Park. We had a nice stay at Linda's apartment.
Linda was a wonderful host in oslo! She met us near the train station and showed us around the apartment and gave us great recs for the city. We also went out with her for a beer at a cool place in aker brygge. Very cool and down to earth and a great experience in Oslo.
Four or us (two couples) stayed at Linda's very large, city-centre apartment in Oslo for two nights. In short, the apartment is beautiful, central and very comfortable but we felt let down by Linda's relaxed approach to our visit - one bed was not made up, the other didn't seem to have clean sheets and, even though we tried hard to arrange a time and place to collect keys in advance, it took 3 hours (spent wandering around a new city in the pouring rain) to get hold of the keys as Linda was on holiday and had asked her boyfriend to give us the keys but had (a) failed to arrange a collection in advance (despite a number of emails, texts and calls from us requesting that she do so), (b) given us the incorrect number to contact him on and (c) not answered her phone when we repeatedly tried to phone her to find out what the problem was on our arrival.
While this marred our experience on arrival, it cannot be denied that the apartment itself is elegant, well located (10-minute walk to the main shopping street and 15 minutes to the waterfront) and was more than large enough for the four of us. It is worth noting that Linda is currently changing the decor but the look of the apartment is the same (white walls, minimalist furniture and bare floorboards). The main changes when we were there were there included: a larger sofa, no coffee table, an extra desk, no chaise longue and no rug in the lounge; no dining table and chairs (the replacement furniture was en route) and an extra single bed used as a divan in the dining room; a double bed (instead of a single bed) and different cupboards in the second bedroom; and different chairs in the kitchen.
The kitchen was well stocked with crockery and cutlery as well as a good oven and hob, although there was no kettle or toaster. There is also a largish round table and 4 comfy chairs so you can dine in the kitchen. The bathroom boasts a shower, sink and toilet as well as a washer and a dryer. The main bedroom is very large and looks over the quiet road (as do the dining room and the lounge) and the second bedroom is a good size although one side of the bed is against the window so you have to clamber in, and the window looks out over the communal garden area (as do the bathroom and the kitchen). Note that there are no overhead lights in the bedrooms, lounge or dining room. This provides atmospheric lighting but in the second bedroom the only light is a bedside lamp on the windowsill, which is not ideal if you want to read in there after dark. There are no curtains in the apartment apart from thin blinds in the bedrooms, which might be an issue if you are easily kept awake by sunlight as the daylight hours are very long in Norway in the summer months, but this didn't really affect us.
Linda's boyfriend gave us a list of recommended cafes, restaurants and bars, and there was a handy guide in the apartment too. These tips were really handy and helped us get a taste of local life in the short time we were there. The apartment is in a quiet spot but within walking distance of most places and quite close to tram and bus stops. There are two nice coffee shops within 5-10 minutes' walk (Fuglen, on Pilestredet, is very trendy but often full of students while Kaffebrenneriet, opposite the National Gallery, is more touristy but cute and not quite so packed) and there is a supermarket only 5 minutes away (Rema 1000 on Pilestredet) if you want to cook. If you want to buy wine, strong beer or spirits then you need to purchase it from the government-run Vinmonopolet (closest is at Rosenkrantz' gate 11), which is only open Monday - Friday until 5-6pm, Saturday until 3pm and is closed all day on Sunday. Corner shops and supermarkets do sell beer, but not on Sundays or late at night.
Overall, if you are relaxed and not easily fazed by a disorganised host, this is an economical yet chic option for an Oslo city break. It is spacious, elegant and the central location means you can pretty much walk everywhere so you don't need to use public transport, unless you want to head out to the islands or Bygdoy). If you are short on time and want a stress-free break then Linda's lax approach to hosting means that this apartment is probably not for you.
Linda's apartment was as described and seen in the photos. A great location (only 5 minutes from the center) and plenty of space. Perfect for my stay in Oslo. I only wish it'd been available lfor longer.
Linda as a host was as equally great, plenty of communication before during my strip meant that everything I needed (local tips etc.) was thought throug. She even took me to a great pizza place for dinner : D
Linda and her friend were very nice and polite guests. I would definitely recommend her to other hosts.
Linda lejede min lejligheden en weekend. Hun afleverede den i fin stand :) Jeg kan varmt anbefale Linda.
Linda and her friend were fabulous guests! Super sweet and polite. Truly a fantastic experience. They left our room very clean and tidy.
Linda was a wonderful guest! Communication was great. Left the apartment in perfect condition.
Matilda was a great guest, respectful and kind. She booked the place last minute and was understanding that we needed to make special arrangements to meet up etc. Id be happy to host her again anyday. Recommend!
Linda was an excellent guest, it's always nice to meet somebody that takes life in their own hands. Good luck with your fantastic life!
Linda was nice and uncomplicated in communication and left the flat in a good condition. Thanks Linda!
