Stayed at Alessia's during my two week study in Monash Prato! The place was so much better than the pictures and Alessia and her boyfriend were very helpful. Enjoyed our stay very much and would strongly recommend this place for further visits.
L'appartamento di Alessia è curato in ogni particolare, ben arredato, confortevole, attrezzato, comodo e ben situato al centro di Prato. Da consigliare sicuramente.
The sunflower apartment was lovely and very spacious, way larger than we expected. It was very clean when we arrived, and the basic dishes and silverware were available. There is also a washing machine and place to hang clothes to dry, which is very useful when travelling. The best feature is the location - just off the corner of the Piazza del Duomo right in the heart of Prato, with a big window that you could open to watch people come and go on the street below, and near to a small supermarket, many cafes and shops, and places of interest. Alessia was waiting for us when we arrived, and although we did not need extensive help in exploring Prato as we were visiting a relative who lives there, she gave us some good suggestions on places to eat, things to do, etc. The experience was entirely positive, and we would stay there again. We actually tried to extend our stay by a night, but alas the place was already booked - and Alessia tried to help us find another place, which was very nice of her. Overall, great place, reasonably priced - we moved to the hotel across the street for our last night (not the option Alessia had suggested), and it was nowhere near as nice.
Alessia's flat is truly lovely in Prato!!! We did not meet Alessia but we met her friend who was super kind and helpful to not only give us the keys but also to help us finding our way in New Years Eve when few roads were closed, so she kindly met us on the exit of the road to guide us until the flat.
We would definitely go back and stay there again! Even though there's no elevator on the building (which we were a little concerned when reading the profile) there's no issues at all as the flat is on the 1st floor and really little steps take you to the first floor.
Flat is really clean, well organized with a beautiful decoration! Plus it's much bigger than we expected with many facilities, we were touched by the fact that there was even good coffee and tea available for us. Thanks a lot!
I spent over three months in Alessia's sunflower apartment and had a fabulous time. It is ideally located in Prato's historic centre with everything you would need within walking distance. The apartment, which has been recently renovated, is furnished with the basics for your stay. There is enough cutlery and crockery for six people and the kitchen has a basic saucepan set, utensils and two baking dishes. While you can easily prepare simple meals in the kitchen it is not set up for anything complex - i.e. there's not much preparation space or equipment beyond the very basic. This is not necessarily problematic as there are good gastronomie in the near vicinity where you can buy already prepared food. The sofabed is quite comfortable and the main bedroom has a large double bed and wardrobe. There are also two small storage rooms which are very handy. The only caution I would sound is about noise. If you are a light sleeper or have trouble sleeping after being woken at night then you would have to consider carefully as there is quite a lot of noise both late into the night (due to the restaurant just below the apartment and the surrounding streets, including the Piazza Duomo during the warmer months) and early in the morning (when nearby businesses start to prepare for opening). Alessia is the perfect host and would really do anything for you. I would not hesitate to recommend this property as a great place to spend some time in Tuscany.
The apartment is very well situated - a few minutes walk from the Prato Porta de Seraglio train station which is 20 minutes from Florence. The apartment is very comfortable - a good sofa bed as well as separate bedroom. The apartment overlooks the piazza and the duomo and there are excellent shops for wonderful local produce. There is a small supermarket about 5 minutes walk away.
We were there as the Christmas market opened in the piazza and it was noisy at times but we weren't bothered too much by this as we had expected it.
Prato is a wonderful place to stay away from the bustle of Florence but close enough to visit very day. We also traveled by train to Pisa. Prato bars and restaurants are good and very hospitable.
Alessia and Pierluigi were great hosts, very welcoming and helpful.
Response from Alessia:
Happy Christmas also to you! Hope to see you again.
Bell'appartamento ampio e dotato di tutte le comodità, in posizione molto comoda. Purtroppo la piazza di sera/notte è piuttosto rumorosa ma complessivamente tutto positivo!
Appartamento pulito e molto carino. Posizione bella e comoda.
I stayed I at the Duomo Apartment, Prato for two sets of 3 weeks each in June and July. The instant you arrive you feel part of the Prato community and the views from the bedroom window overlooking the iconic Piazza Duomo are superb. Even got to see Patti Smith perform live on the Piazza from my bedroom window. The apartment is clean, spacious, very nicely decorated - obviously professionals who know what they're doing. The hosts Alessia and Luigi were very helpful and considerate for my entire stay. The apartment is very secure with huge thick doors and fort-knox double locking systems, an entrance hall and a stairwell. Initially I was disappointed that there was no air conditioning, but you soon realise that architecturally the eye-sore of external Aircon units just doesn't make any sense in these picturesque Tuscan villages. And in the end two fans were more than adequate. Prato itself is a delightful town and if you get the chance take an early morning walk along the river and climb up into the nearby mountain range. From the top you can you can see Prato on one side and Florence on the other. I had a wonderful time in Prato and have to say as a tourist destination the access to Florence and the rest of Tuscany via the regional train system is perfect. I would thoroughly recommend Duomo Apartment.
This apartment is a fantastic place to stay in Prato. It is a minutes walk from the train station and is located in the middle of the town in the main Duomo. The apartment was bright, spacious, modern and clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Alessia was a great host and provided us with all the help we needed. Highly recommend this apartment.
Alessia was the perfect guest! Her communication was always clear, flexible and friendly. She left the apt spotless! I couldn't even tell anyone had stayed here. I definitely recommend anyone rent there apt to her!!
persone splendide, gentilissime e pulitissime!
