5 things I can't live without are sports (playing them and watching them), food (finding new recipes to try and new restaurants in and around where I live), science (I love reading about new and old scientific discoveries; and as a high school science teacher I love bringing stories into the classroom to engage students), family (my family is extremely supportive and we love helping each other out whenever possible), friends (having great people to share experiences with is amazing, and I always love to make new ones).
Thus far in my short travelling "career" I have road-tripped across Canada, to Chicago, New York and Montreal (many times), I have visited Florida and California. The best has been Manhattan! This was in large part due to my amazing travel partner (husband) who has very similar philosophies about touring and exploring cities. We had a blast in NYC sightseeing, taking in Rock of Ages, a Yankees game and a tour down to the Statue of Liberty. We also indulged in many food outings with the massive steak being one of the highlights of the trip!
I am always up for a new adventure and love to experience the true culture of a location in addition to some of the tourist destinations.
As a guest in someone else's place I am always respectful of other people's belongings. My saying is always "leave the place as if I was never there". I like to be out and about when travelling, but there are times when I definitely like to take a load off and have a chill session with my co-traveller(s) to sit and enjoy the vacation.
I can't really say that I've ever had a life motto that I could coin; however I love to try new things and taking in sights that take my breath away - I feel my appreciation for seeing/experiencing new things comes from my appreciation of the life that I get to live.
