Laurie was lovely. The neighborhood was great and within walking distance of great neighborhood stuff. I got in a car accident my last day and Laurie was very accommodating. Shower was the smallest I've ever been in, but otherwise no complaints.
We had a great time in the Casita. Tom let us in while Laurie was traveling. He was a very sweet gentleman and was able to answer any issues that arose within a few hours of notifying him. Laurie was a wonderful host and even helped us find household items for our new apartment. And Jerry is an adorable dog; he would come in and lay down while I read. It made the place feel very much like home to have him there.
The Casita was clean and well appointed with everything you could need from small appliances to cutlery to shampoo. A really wonderful place to stay if you are visiting or moving to Portland. Also, it is in one of the most interesting and fun neighborhoods in Portland. So you are a short walk from great restaurants and shops and grocery stores just a handful of blocks away.
We had a great time in Portland. The room is nice, you have your own bathroom and a private entrance. The location is great for visiting the city! A bus stop (the bus takes you to downtown Portland very fast) is a 5 min walk away on Hawthorne, a nice street with lots of shops, bars and restaurants.
My mom was fortunate to enjoy Tom's Casa Laurita this summer when she was in town visiting me. Each night I dropped her off (she stayed 4 nights) she would "ooh and ahh" over the precious front yard and decorative path to her private enterance.
Tom called the day before my mom arrived and was full of helpful information! He wasn't able to be there for check in (which was fine) because he provided us with detailed instructions.
The inside was very clean and tidy with wifi and lots of Portland literature.
The neighborhood was beautiful! Lots of fruit and flowers on the walks around the blocks in the evening time.
You can't beat the location!
Per my mama, she would happily stay here in the future!
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Casita! It was quaint and charming and had everything we needed. We enjoyed meeting Laura (Tom wasn't there at the time). We had quiet privacy, nice breezes, and easy coming and going to explore the area. We felt it was a very good value for the price!
We had a great time here - the house is perfectly situated in a leafy neighbourhood with a host of great restaurants and bars and only a short bus ride downtown. Tom and Laurie were very welcoming and generous hosts, and together with their other friends we met made sure of a really friendly and laid back feel in the house. Would definitely recommend.
We were greeted upon arrival and informed of a slight key issue - easy to work with. We talked about some possible things to do with our time and Tom was very helpful with suggestions and brochures. The place was great, clean, and private. Also in a great neighborhood and very close to Hawthorne Street....cool place!
Casa Laurita was the perfect spot for us to stay while we explored Portland. Tom was great and gave us all the info we needed over the phone when we arrived. It was nice to have a quiet and private place to come home to after a busy day. The neighborhood is absolutely beautiful and one of the highlights was walking through them to get coffee in the morning and at night on our way back to the house. The area couldn't be better and we got around great on public transportation the entire time. Thanks Tom!
Wow! This was our first airbnb experience and Tom set the bar so, very high! First, it's close to many different bus lines, so we had no problem hoofing it to the place, where Tom was waiting for us outside. It's a beyond gorgeous neighborhood and the Casa Laurita stands out with it's beautiful, purple facade. The private entrance was a nice touch and Tom was kind enough to "move us in" and give us some tips on where to go in the area. We followed his suggestion and had a wonderful time. After that, we were free to come and go as we pleased and we found the house to be a perfect launching point for dozens of adventures on foot and by bus.
We fell in love with Portland. We fell in love with the neighborhood. And, because of all the great people we met like Tom, we fell in love with the community as well. Thanks, Casa Laurita, for providing us a wonderful stay!
Response from Laurie:
As you said, "Wow!" I am touched and humbled by your kind words, Robin. Your praise makes this all worthwhile. And I do hope you will come back and find a home in The Rose City someday...
Tom's place was exactly what I needed - comfortable bed, reading light, hot water. Everything was neat and clean and there was plenty of literature for exploring Portland. Thanks!
Laurie was an ideal guest. Direct and to the point she communicated her needs efficiently and effectively and made my job as a host very simple. I greatly appreciated that and I would highly recommend her to other guests in the airbnb community.
Laurie is a nice person who shared moments with us in Quito
Laurie is a world traveler and she has taken advantage of private, hosted accomodations several times. Thus she knows what it takes to be comfortable in someone's home and she is sure to have thought of every detail for Casa Laurita. Portland is a lovely destination and I cannot imagine a better choice of place to stay than "Chez Laurie" if you find yourself in this fun and fascinating city.
Laurie's a great hostess and guest. She's been my guest at my B&B and acted as my hostess in my absence. She's fun, funny, willing and able and I couldn't do any of it without her.
Tom is truly a super human being. I recommend him as a travel companion. Great intellect coupled with winning personality.
